Jennifer Lopez Wants To Perform At 2017 Super Bowl 51 Halftime Show

Could Jennifer Lopez be the next superstar to take on the Super Bowl halftime show?

After Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars’ highly praised halftime performance at Super Bowl 50, Hollywood Life is claiming that Jennifer Lopez is hoping she’s next in line for the coveted slot.

According to the site, Lopez is doing everything she can to capture the attention of the NFL with her uber-popular All I Have Las Vegas residency shows, which an insider alleged to Hollywood Life is Jennifer’s way of proving she’d make the perfect halftime act for Super Bowl 51 in 2017.

“Jennifer is excited for her Vegas residency to start as she sees it as a major milestone in her career, but she also is using it as a place to show the NFL that she should be the Super Bowl halftime performer next year,” a source allegedly told the site of Lopez’s big hopes.

The source also confirmed that Jennifer Lopez is considering her Las Vegas residency shows as “her highlight reel,” which she’s hoping will act as a blueprint for the kind of show she could put on at Super Bowl LI, which is set to take place in Houston, Texas, on February 5, 2017.

“[Jennifer] really wants to do the Super Bowl and she wants to be the first person the NFL asks for Super Bowl 51,” a source told the site, who added that Lopez’s already well-received Vegas show “will prove that 100%.”

Though the site is claiming that the NFL is yet to begin discussing who will be taking to the stage for next year’s big Super Bowl game, Hollywood Life is alleging that the NFL would be more than likely on-board to hire Jennifer Lopez as next year’s halftime act when discussions do eventually begin later this year.

“The NFL would definitely be interested [in Jennifer Lopez] and would be happy to take on those discussions, but not anytime soon,” an insider revealed to the site. “They have plenty of time to figure that all out and when plans start materializing for next year then they will cross that path.”

Though Jennifer is yet to confirm or deny reports that she’s eyeing next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, a number of fans took to Twitter following Super Bowl 50 on February 7 to show their support for Lopez taking on the prestigious performance slot in 2017.

“Fans have spoken!! @JLo for #SuperBowl51 @NFL @nflnetwork @SuperBowl @superbowl50 Its a guaranteed success!,” @chicagojlover wrote on the 140-character site on February 8, “Have you seen her perform!?”

Thank you everyone for a phenomenal show tonight!#JLoVegas #ALLIHAVE #grateful

Twitter user @CedJLo also tweeted out support for Jennifer to take on Super Bowl 2017, tweeting out “I really wish Jennifer Lopez gets to perform for the Superbowl, you can trust JLo to also deliver a killer performance.”

@EddieMac209 also spread the Jennifer Lopez love on the social media site, writing, “I love @Beyonce but @JLo should have performed at the Super Bowl today #SuperBowlSunday.”

Lopez’s legions of fans are so hyped up over the possibility of Jennifer taking to the Super Bowl halftime stage that a petition has even been set up to persuade the NFL to choose the American Idol judge for the big show seen by millions around the world, which already has close to 500 signatures.

The petition is even claiming that Jennifer Lopez would be the perfect pick for next year’s Texas Super Bowl, particularly due to its ties to Selena Quintanilla, who Lopez famously portrayed in the 1997 film, Selena.

“Since the Super Bowl is being held in Houston, Texas (home of Selena Quintanilla’s last concert) it only seems right that Jennifer Lopez comes and gives a show to remember,” the petition reads.

Do you think Jennifer Lopez would make a good Super Bowl performer?
