Fascia Buzz, Myofascial Release: Why Fascial Connective Tissue Is Hot For 2016

The word “fascia” might sound like a weird foreign thing to some folks, but terms like fascia and myofascial release are getting more popular in 2016. According to Breaking Muscle, having healthy and springing fascia is like having springs surrounding your muscles that can help you run and jump faster and better.

The Huffington Post calls fascia the unknown body part that could unknowingly make folks miserable until they learn how to release and roll out the fascia with foam rollers, massages or other tools. Breaking up the fascia can not only help smooth the appearance of skin thought to be affected by cellulite, but it can also help bodybuilders experience better “pump” and a more cut and defined look, as witnessed in the video below.

When there are issues with the fascia in a person’s body, it can be life or limb threatening. As seen in the above photo, a man named Jared received a treatment called the Necrotizing Fasciitis Paradigm procedure in order to save his leg, which involved removing dead tissue from his fascia. It was necessary to stop a flesh-eating disease. A similar situation happened with Ashley Black, a former gymnast who is known as “Ashley Black Guru” on Instagram.

Black described how she also experienced having a flesh-eating bacteria nearly two decades ago, and how that horrible experience led her to invent a solution to address connective tissue issues. The system of fasciology is known as the “white stuff” that doctors cut through when they perform surgeries — think of the marbled looking fat stuff that’s often seen in some types of meats.

The label #fascia enjoys 35,906 posts on Instagram, with Ashley’s posts about how she got into the field of study topping all those posts as of this writing.

“After flesh-eating bacteria entered Ashley Black’s bone system 15 years ago, a story began unfolding. Finding treatment options limited, Ashley began studying the human body, uncovering new systems virtually unexplored in modern #healthcare, #fitness, sports and#beauty. She established Ashley Black Fasciology – the mission of which is to educate the world on #fascia, which holds the potential to change society’s understanding of anatomy and physiology. Improving fascia changes lives and helps everyday people enjoy unprecedented levels of #health, vitality and #beauty.

“As the leading expert on fascia, Ashley has pioneered every aspect of the field. Her client roster includes A-list celebs; top-ten #athletes in major #sports, royals, billionaires, supermodels and worldwide influencers. Ashley is launching knowledge and revolutionary products to bring the benefits of fascia #science and#Fasciology to the general public; including the #FasciaBlaster – a self-treating tool anyone can use to loosen fascia, get RID of #cellulite, #pain and dysfunction and improve overall health and #wellness!

As such, fascia experts like Black sell products like the FasciaBlaster, going for $89 on her website, or a mini version going for $40 right now.

A search for other fascia products on Amazon that purport to offer myofascial release and help improve the appearance of what plenty of people think is cellulite results in a variety of items with varying reviews. The fact that some folks can workout like crazy and eat well, but still experience what they think is cellulite, but is really fascia that needs to be released, can be witnessed by the fact that even thin folks with low body fat percentages see the fascia issue with their own bodies.

Overall, some of the before-and-after photos being touted by folks like Black are truly amazing, claiming to show the results from real users of her product after 30 and 60 days that seem like the difference between night and day.
