CDC Warns Pregnant Mothers That No Amount Of Alcohol Is Safe: Social Media Explodes After CDC Releases A Condescending Tirade About Young Women

Bad news pregnant mothers; the Center For Disease Control (CDC) made a statement warning young women against drinking alcohol in case they get pregnant stating that no amount is safe while expecting. A report by CNBC noted the CDC statement was not properly understood by many; their message merely was to warn the public about the dangers of drinking while pregnant, and to inform expectant mothers that no amount of alcohol is safe. Even so, their message fell on deaf ears, as social media exploded over the judgemental tone of the press release.

The CDC stated that almost half of the pregnancies in the United States are unplanned and even out of the planned children, the mothers are not aware they are expecting until at least four to six weeks along. According to the report, the women could be drinking while pregnant, and exposing their developing baby to the effects of alcohol.

The fact is, no one was upset with the warning to young women about alcohol until the CDC stated that the younger generations are placing their unborn child at risk by regularly drinking, having sex with an unknown amount of partners, and lacking the use of birth control

The statement angered many people as the CDC assumed that all young adults were not drinking responsibly and getting pregnant with men they don’t know. The CDC believes that the chance of youth drinking gives them a greater chance to lose their inhibitions, which may lead to promiscuous behavior that could result in unplanned pregnancy.

Social media exploded when users chimed in stating that it felt like the CDC comments were “slut shaming” the younger generation. According to the posts, many commenters felt they were being judged by their age and the way they chose to have children.

Up until the recent CDC report, expectant moms were told they could partake of an occasional glass of wine with no health ramifications. In fact, many obstetricians recommend their patients drink a glass of wine when at term to relax, just before delivering. Now, the CDC wants to go against that recommendation in an utterly condescending tirade about the younger generation.

The statement from CDC also noted that a pregnant mother can harm her child’s development before they even knew they were expecting — which makes drinking while pregnant or trying to become pregnant a risky choice, reported KARE NEWS.

The CDC warning to young adult was simple; women, refrain from drinking if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. If you are not pregnant, use birth control or abstain from having sex, Kansas City Star reported. Clearly, it is easy to see why so many people would have a big problem with the statement. It calls women individual carriers, and takes away the women’s right to live their life in the way they see fit.

The CDC warning launched a social media attack on the young women and told them to avoid all alcohol whether they are pregnant or not. Apparently, the most damage liquor does to unborn children is at four-to-eight weeks gestation — often the expectant mom is unaware she is pregnant at the time. Many Twitter users felt the CDC recommendation slut-shamed them and feel a massive apology is in order.

The fact is, CDC warning to young women about alcohol was a good solid piece of advice. They lost their support by stating that youth often sleep with numerous partners and drink excessively.
