Whether intentional or not, the flirting between mega stars Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande via Instagram has many fans wondering if there is some sort of secret connection between the two celebrities. And if that’s the case, should their paramours Haily Baldwin and Ricky Alvarez be concerned?
It started almost two weeks ago, with Justin Bieber leaving a flirty message on one of Ariana Grande’s Instagram posts.
As reported by Sugarscape, Ariana uploaded a series of videos on Instagram testing out her Snapchat filters. Embedded somewhere in the train of comments however, it was Bieber who liked two of the posts and even commented on them in her feed.
“Damn Ariana you look so good,” Justin posted, causing a firestorm that has since died down a bit.
From there, things got a little awkward, however. As reported by Hollywood Life, Ariana’s current beau, backup dancer Ricky Alvarez, shot back at the Biebs, commenting that he should “keep looking player… I already told you she does” in the same feed.
“There’s no way in hell Ricky is going to let his girlfriend be stricken by Bieber Fever,” the article suggested. But did Ariana’s backup-dancer-turned-boyfriend’s actions do more harm then good? And what did Justin Bieber’s flame, Hailey Baldwin, think about all this social media flirtation?
As reported by Inquisitr, Hailey’s reaction seemed to be the complete opposite of Ricky Alvarez. Whereas Ricky seemed overly defensive and threatened, Baldwin seemingly embraced Grande’s photogenic qualities.

It probably helps that Baldwin, 19, is already an established supermodel, having graced the pages of such illustrious magazines like Vogue, as reported by PopSugar.
“If there’s one It girl whose name you need to know, it has to be Hailey Baldwin. Aside from being the beautiful offspring of Stephen and a close friend to both the Jenners and the Hadids, she’s already appeared in the pages of Vogue, fronted major campaigns, and really wowed us at the Met Gala. Now, she’s popping up everywhere, from the red carpet to Justin Bieber’s Instagram.”
Ricky Alvarez’s claim to fame of course, besides dancing beside his young honey, was getting caught on security camera alongside Grande as she infamously licked the display donuts at a local bakery and set off a national firestorm last summer when she was caught calling all Americans fat.
And as for both Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, they’re far too busy further cultivating their respective music careers to pay much attention to social media chatter.
Justin Bieber is continuing to support his most recent album, last year’s Purpose, which has garnered strong critical review since it’s release in early November.
“Purpose isn’t a downer. It’s a party record,” Billboard writes in its review of the album. “It just so happens the party’s in Bieber’s head. Despite its countless co-writers and producers, chief among them Bieber’s bestie Jason ‘Poo Bear’ Boyd, the album boasts a consistent palette of lush, low-key electro-dance sounds: sun-warped synths, chipmunk accent vocals, rattling trap hi-hats, and loads of bass.”
Meanwhile, as reported by the Lake Andes Wave, Ariana Grande recently previewed a new song on Instagram, presumably from her forthcoming Moonlight LP, rumored to be released sometime in 2016.
“Is it love, is it lust, is it fear; but it’s hard to breathe when you’re touching me there, hard to breathe when you’re kissing me there,” Ariana sung over a blurry image montage.
Whether or not Grande’s words are directed at Justin Bieber, and Hailey Baldwin and Ricky Alvarez should be concerned, is a story for a future post.
