‘Drunk Parents’ Actress Salma Hayek Rushed To Hospital, But Did She Receive Proper Treatment From Starstruck Doctors

Salma Hayek was in costume for her film, Drunk Parents, when she was rushed to the hospital. Ms. Hayek had suffered a minor blow to the head and, to be safe, she was rushed to the hospital via ambulance to ensure there had been no internal damage. Following the tragic passing of internet celebrity Katie May, who passed away from a stroke induced by a fall on a photo shoot set, it seemed prudent to have Salma immediately checked out by medical professionals. In Ms. Hayek’s case, she may have fallen into the wrong hands and her own outfit, wardrobe for her Drunk Parents‘ character, further detracted from the seriousness of the situation.

Salma Hayek’s Visit To The E.R. Amuses Doctors

The 49-year-old Drunk Parents actress was taken to the hospital and given a clean bill of health by emergency room personnel, though no details are given as to the nature of the injury or how thoroughly she was examined. In fact, much more has been made of Salma’s attire and celebrity status than was made of her accident and possible injuries.

Hayek was still in costume, when she arrived at the emergency room, and admittedly felt a little embarrassed to be seen in a T-shirt that made her appear nude from the waist up. The shirt showed a woman’s topless form with hands cupping the breasts, leading those witnessing her hospital visit to imagine Salma exposed.

Making matters more uncomfortable were the two E.R. doctors, starstruck and bemused by Salma’s T-shirt. The two medical professionals were immortalized with Hayek in a picture that they surely must have suggested for their own reasons. Hayek shared the picture with her Instagram followers as well.

“I had to be rushed from set to the ER for a minor head injury,” Salma Hayek captioned the photo. “Unfortunately my wardrobe for the scene was completely inappropriate for the hospital. Thank you to doctors Foster and Ellspermann for taking such good care of me! And don’t worry it didn’t make me any crazier than I was!”

Were The E.R. Doctors Too Starstruck To Give Drunk Parents Actress Salma Hayek The Thorough Examination She Deserved?

We live in an age that has everyone looking for their claim to fame, some way for us to raise their own celebrity statuses by associating with those that draw a bigger following. Whether it’s name dropping, or using the images of Hollywood stars to promote our own talents, it happens more and more often. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that, as long as all parties are okay with the arrangement, but, at the same time, this kind of hero worship should take a back seat to providing professional services that may have caused the meeting of fan and star in the first place.

In this case, one can’t help but to feel that Salma Hayek got the short end of the stick. As news reports emerged concerning the actress’ trip to the emergency room, her possible injuries were downplayed, even forgotten altogether, as the media (and the hospital staff) focused more and more on Hayek’s racy T-shirt and her high profile celebrity status.

Salma was certainly good-natured about the entire ordeal, presumably relieved and in good spirits to learn that no serious harm had been done in the accident, but one has to wonder if she had been given the best treatment, when her doctors were so obviously distracted. We may soon find out, if Salma Hayek finds herself back in another emergency room in the next few days.

It may also be that she got lucky and nothing was missed.
