Leonardo DiCaprio To Get An ‘Oscar’ — From Russia With Love
Leonardo DiCaprio may not have won an Oscar so far and frankly, his fans are not all that happy about it. But hey, that’s only the fans in the US and elsewhere because the Russians have decided to award Leo an “Oscar” anyway.

There is a bunch of Russians who are gathering silver so that they can melt it down and make an Oscar statuette for the film star. This Oscar will be made by the residents of the East Siberia republic of Yakutia, who have called the project “Oscar for Leo”.
The person who started this campaign for DiCaprio, if it can be called such, is a lady by the name of Tatyana Yegorova. After Leo was nominated for The Revenant this year and the fans probably decided it was time for the coveted award to go to the actor, Mashable has reported. The fans come from Yakutia in North Eastern Siberia.

“Yakutia praises high-quality cinema and considers DiCaprio to be an actor who can inspire and delight his audiences,” she said. (There have also been several attempts from fans to recreate moments where Leo was holding other awards apart from the Oscar. Like this tweet.)

However, as is expected, this version of he Oscar is going to be slightly different from the way Academy Awards statue looks and will most certainly be inspired by the Russian culture. Instead of a sword, the figure will hold a Choron, a three-legged traditional goblet that “symbolizes peace and expressing the people’s love for the actor,” according to Yegorova. This statue will look towards the sky, instead of grasping a sword because “when a person looks at the sky, the stars, only then does he realize his true purpose and become a part of nature,” Yegovora told.
“We must create our own Yakut ‘Oscar’ and present the actor with this reward for his creative work, on behalf of the indigenous peoples of the North,” said Yegorova, RBTH has reported.
“We just started fundraising for the statue and the sketch is still in development. The amount that would be required for its creation, will be up to 100 thousand rubles. Many women are handing over the money for the statue…”, Ria.Ru has reported.

She further says that this year is dedicated to Russian cinema which is considered a “mass” art in Russia. She says that about hundred fans have donated so far. The statue, that will be cast in silver is going to be around 12 inches tall which may also vary depending on the donations the cause gets.
“Usually it is created from solid birch but we will make an exception for DiCaprio,” said Yegorova.
However, there are a lot of fans that fear that there may not be enough silver and there are a lot of people who are donating their silver jewelry for the cause.

There have also been reports that DiCaprio will play Putin in a movie. However, these rumors have been repeatedly denied by several filmmakers. However, on this topic, DiCaprio has said he would “love” to play Putin and that it would be “very, very, very interesting,” Washington Post has said.

The RBTH has cited that DiCaprio may play the Russian leader in a movie called Putin. It was reported that filming of the movie will begin in the spring of 2016 and that the film may hit the screen later in the year. It was also reported that the movie will be shot in the United States, Europe and Russia.
Whether Leonardo DiCaprio gets is Oscar or not remains to be seen, but one thing is certain, he has certainly won the hearts of his fans.
