Beyoncé To Perform New Single, ‘Formation,’ At Super Bowl 50 [Rumor]

There could be big news coming for Beyoncé fans this Super Bowl weekend.

According to reputable Beyoncé fan site Beyoncé Legion, Mrs. Carter may be performing a brand new single when she takes to the Super Bowl 50 stage alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars on February 7.

Beyoncé’s fans took to Facebook to break the big news on February 4, where they alleged that Beyoncé’s new single is titled “Formation,” and will be debuted for the first time when Beyoncé performs at the big NFL game this weekend.

“We’ve got some exclusive news!” Beyoncé Legion wrote on the social media site, “Beyoncé is set to perform a new song called ‘Formation’ at the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show. Her bit with Bruno Mars will also be really fun. Get ready!!! [sic].”

Though Beyoncé herself has not confirmed the news, fans have been speculating that Beyoncé will be debuting new music very soon since she was spotted filming what’s thought to be the single’s new music video in downtown Los Angeles on January 23.

An eagle-eyed Beyoncé fan also alleged that “Formation” was confirmed as the name of Beyoncé’s new single on Twitter on February 1 after a mood board supposedly owned by Beyoncé’s team was spotted brandishing the name as early as August.

” ‘Formation’ CONFIRMED!” Beyoncé Twitter account @TheBeyHiveTeam tweeted out earlier this month, alongside a photo of a board covered in costume ideas and the names of a number of Beyoncé’s past singles, including “Partition,” “Irreplaceable,” and “I Was Here.” “In August, this story board, throwing together ideas for the festivals, left out of Parkwood!,” the source revealed.

But while there’s chatter of a new single, the Sun is speculating that Beyoncé may send fans into a meltdown by dropping new album and tour details to coincide with her upcoming big Super Bowl appearance.

“Now Adele’s sales are starting to die down, Beyoncé is ready to drop her album at any time,” a source allegedly told the site in January, “but there’s a very strong chance the announcement could happen during the Super Bowl next month.”

The site reported at the time that Beyoncé was looking to release new music once the hype surround Adele’s big return with “25” had died down and even alleged that Beyoncé has had her new album finished and ready to go since the end of 2015.

“Beyoncé has totally relaxed her schedule and pushed back her album, which is now complete and ready to go,” the source revealed. “It was wrapped up at the end of 2015 but she held off on a release as a code of honour to Adele, so their records didn’t clash.”

“Beyoncé doesn’t have the pressure of releasing an album and is doing bits here and there because she and her team know it is Adele’s time to shine,” an inside continued to the Sun. “The last few months have been all about her comeback.”

While Beyoncé is understandably keeping her big Super Bowl appearance details under wraps for now, Coldplay recently confirmed to CNN that Beyoncé and Bruno Mars will likely only take to the stage for a few minutes during the set.

“I loved the whole concept of trying to present your entire musical life in 12-and-a-half minutes,” Coldplay front-man Chris Martin told CNN of the much anticipated performance alongside Beyoncé earlier this week, adding that being asked to perform at the show seen by millions around the world is “a great challenge.”

Though he didn’t mention Beyoncé by name, Chris Martin teased to the news site, “We’ve possibly got 11 good minutes. So we have some special guests and they’ll cover the rest.”

Do you think Beyoncé will be unveiling a new single called “Formation” during her appearance at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show?
