Gwyneth Paltrow And Chris Martin No Longer Dating, But Remain Close — He’s ‘Like A Brother’

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently revealed in an interview with Glamour that she thinks of her ex-husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, like a brother. Martin and Paltrow have two children together and have managed to stay close friends, so close in fact that they still have sleepovers.

Paltrow says that the ideal option for any couple going through a divorce is to stay friends, and it’s no different between her and Chris Martin — whom Gwyneth calls a “great ex-husband.” The two still spend a lot of time together, with their children as a family.

“Last night he got in at midnight and slept here so he could surprise the kids in the morning, we could all have breakfast, and he could take them to school. So…we’re not living together, but he’s more than welcome to be with us whenever he wants. And vice versa: I sleep in his house in Malibu a lot with the kids. We’ll have a weekend all together; holidays, we’re together. We’re still very much a family, even though we don’t have a romantic relationship. He’s like my brother.”

Gwyneth Paltrow says that she is “very independent,” even when she is in a relationship. She’s not sure if she will ever get married again, but before she could even fathom that possibility, her divorce with Chris Martin will have to be finalized. Paltrow and Martin announced their separation in March of 2014, after being married for nearly 10 years. They originally tied the knot in December of 2003, following Paltrow’s on-and-off relationship with actor Ben Affleck, which lasted from 1997 to late 2000.

Gwyneth Paltrow first met Chris Martin three weeks after the death of her father, Bruce Paltrow. Coldplay’s newest album, A Head Full of Dreams, features Paltrow adding vocals, “singing a bit of harmony.” Some of the material was based on Gwyneth’s experience following the death of her father, being incredibly devastated and having to live in a world that kept moving forward. She says it was that concept which inspired Chris to come and ask her to sing on the album.

“It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” a statement on Paltrow’s Goop website read, at the time of their divorce. “We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.”

In 2014, Us Weekly reported that Glee co-creator/executive producer/writer Brad Falchuk and Gwyneth Paltrow were dating, only four months after announcing her split from Chris Martin. Falchuk has an ex of his own, Suzanne, whom he divorced in March of 2013 after having been married for ten years. Paltrow has appeared on five episodes of Glee, with a source exclusively revealing to Us that “things started off professionally” between Gwyneth and Brad. The two were seen out in public having dinner together, and according to an eyewitness, “it was flirty.”

If the two are dating, they have done a solid job of not letting it go public and keeping quiet about it.
