Taylor Swift Goes Brunette For CoverGirl Ads [Video]

Taylor Swift is known for her flowing blonde locks, but the singer is changing things up for a new CoverGirl ad.

The country singing star sports a darker hair color for the new campaign entitled, “See You, Be You.” For the shoot Swift sports a number of different looks, from blunt bangs to straight hair–but what stands out the most are the darker tones to her hair, which aren’t quite fully brunette but maybe closer to dirty blonde.

Taylor Swift said a Vogue spread from earlier this year inspired her to be a little more adventurous with her style and try going brunette, The Huffington Post reported.

“I was so excited to be shooting the cover of Vogue that I let them cut bangs for me at the shoot,” Taylor Swift said in an interview with Refinery29. “It turned out to be one of my favorite changes I’ve ever made to my hair. Moral of the story: Always trust Vogue.”

Swift said she likes to experiment with her fashion and looks, but her trademark blonde curls have been a mainstay of her fashion, so the switch to a brunette is seen as a major departure.

Even when she does go brunette, it appears Taylor’s trademark curls are here to stay.

“Lately, I’ve been doing my hair in a way that’s sort of a combination of [straight and curly], smooth on top with a loose curl at the bottom,” Swift told Fashion & Style.

After the year she’s had, Taylor Swift deserves to experiment with going brunette. Forbes recently placed her atop the list of highest-paid celebrities under 30, with the hard-working 22-year-old singer bringing in $57 million between May 2011 and May 2012.
