‘Teen Mom 2’ Leah Messer Custody Battle Results: New Details, Jeremy Calvert Update

Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer and her ex-husband, Corey Simms, attended a court hearing in late January, where the former couple was able to agree to split custody of their 6-year-old twins after enduring a years-long custody battle.

According to Us Weekly magazine, Leah Messer will have her children from Thursday until Sundays, and Simms will have them for the remainder of the week. In addition, the girls will stay with their father one weekend out of the month, and when it comes to expenses, the former pair will “split the bills 50-50.”

On January 30, a second report regarding Leah Messer’s custody battle with Simms was revealed, and in it, new details were revealed to the Ashley’s Reality Roundup.

“They decided to do shared parenting,” the Ashley’s source tells explained. “Corey’s intention was never to rip the girls away from [Leah Messer]. He fought for full custody because that was what needed to happen at the time to protect the girls. He never wanted to cut Leah out of their lives, or replace the girls’ mother or anything else that fans were saying about him. People only know a piece of how bad things had gotten, honestly.”

Although cameras were filming the upcoming seventh season on Teen Mom 2 both before and after the court hearing, they were not allowed inside the court during the proceedings.

“MTV filmed [Leah Messer] and Corey explaining to their families what happened inside the courtroom,” the source revealed. “That footage will probably help fans understand why Corey did what he did in regard to custody.”

Because Simms was so against Leah Messer during filming on Teen Mom 2 Season 6, it will be interesting to see how their agreement came about. After all, just months ago, fans watched as Simms and his wife, Miranda, confronted Leah Messer with claims of a “drug problem,” and later met with Jeremy Calvert, who noted a “prescription pill problem.”

Following Leah Messer’s divorce from Corey Simms in 2011, the reality star began dating Calvert, and within months, they were expecting their first child. Sadly, Leah Messer’s pregnancy ended in miscarriage in January 2012, but their relationship continued, and in April 2012, they couple tied the knot, and in February 2013, their first child, daughter Adalynn Faith, was born.

A short time after Leah Messer and her second husband welcomed their daughter, she and her ex-husband, Simms, who had married wife Miranda in June 2013, engaged in an affair (the relationship was confirmed during season 6). However, it was never revealed whether or not Calvert knew of his then-wife’s infidelity at the time, and for over a year, the couple stayed married. Then, in 2014, Calvert accused Leah Messer of cheating with Robbie Kidd, whom she previously cheated on Simms with, and weeks later, he filed for divorce.

Although Leah Messer denied the allegations regarding Kidd, and the two remained together for a few months, their divorce was ultimately finalized in June of last year, when Leah Messer was receiving treatment for anxiety and depression at a facility in Arizona.

In the months since splitting from Calvert, Leah Messer has been dating a man named T.R. Dues, a father of two boys, but so far, fans of Teen Mom 2 have yet to meet him on the show.

Leah Messer and the cast of Teen Mom 2 will return to MTV for a seventh season later this year.
