Apple Event 2016 Coming March 15: iPhone 5se, iPad Air 3, And Apple Watch Updates To Be Featured

They’re calling it the Apple Event 2016. The next Apple Event is set to feature updates across three of their major product lines with the introduction of an iPhone 5se, iPad Air 3, and Apple Watch updates. What exactly do updates for the Apple Watch mean?

9to5Mac suggests that all the Apple Watch is set to reveal are a few more band varieties for consumers to mix and match.

“The new band lines will include multiple new colors for the rubberized Sport bands, new Hermès bands, a ‘space black’ version of the Milanese Loop, and an entirely new band line made of a new material.”

Previously, many experts believed a possible Apple Watch 2 may be coming, but it’s looking like that’s a possibility that won’t happen during the next Apple Event. Instead Apple is rumored to present new software for the Watch, so consumers will have to settle for a consolation prize.

The iPhone 5se is an interesting development. Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac details the updates that are coming consumers’ way regarding the next iPhone 5se.

He writes, “Apple is planning to reinvigorate the 4-inch iPhone screen size by replacing the iPhone 5s with an iPhone 5se that includes an A9 chip, improved cameras, support for taking Live Photos, and Apple Pay.”

Even with all these updates, the iPhone 5se will be priced the same as the 5s — starting at $450 for the 16GB model.

Macrumors reports that the iPhone 5se will reportedly ship in late March or early April, and could replace the iPhone 5s. Later in the year, Apple is set to reveal the next generation of iPhone — the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

The next Apple Event will also feature updates to the iPad Air model. The iPad Air 3 marks the first major upgrade to Apple’s Air tablet line since late 2014. It’s almost been a year and a half.

So, what will the iPad Air 3 have? It’s going to look and behave more like the iPad Pro. It’s rumored to have enhanced speakers, a smart connector, and the possibility of a rear-LED flash, which would be the first for any iPad model.

The event may or may not take place on March 15, but the new rumors certainly hold a little bit of water, since the next Apple Event has been thought to come near the week of March 14 for a while now.

Mark Gurman writes, “As the scheduled event is still a month-and-a-half away, the date could conceivably still shift or turn into an online announcement. The media event would be Apple’s first since September, and much like the fall event, is planned to touch on three major product categories for the company.”

The Apple Event 2016 is going to have a plethora of news regarding the newest Apple tech. For now consumers get to look forward to updates for the iPad Air, iPhone, and Apple Watch. Later in the year, Apple may give updates to their iPad Pro and iPhone models, but that’s still a little ways away.

Apple recently hasn’t been doing as well as expected regarding their earnings, but their new iPad Pro outsold the Microsoft Surface in quarter four of last year. The next Apple Event should provide a much-needed boost for Apple in the foreseeable future before they introduce a few other devices later in 2016.
