Johnny Depp To Play Edward Scissorhands On ‘Family Guy’

Johnny Depp said less than 200 words during one of his most famous roles. Now, thanks to Family Guy, he’ll be able to add a few more lines to Edward Scissorhands’ vocabulary.

Depp recently did some voice work for the Fox show as his famous lawn sculpting character.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Edward Scissorhands will only appear in a brief cutaway in an upcoming episode, but Depp still went into the studio to record the voice.

Family Guy executive producer Mark Hentemann, said:

“When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn’t done that voice since he did it in front of the camera. He was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once we pulled up a clip from the movie.”

Getting into character may have been tough for Depp because Edward Scissorhands was filmed over two decades ago. According to Hentemann, Depp, who recently broke up with his longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, also had to concentrate in a room full of swooning women.

Hentemann added:

“He was amazing — and demonstrated extraordinary patience with all the fawning women in our office who swarmed him.”

The 11th season of Family Guy starts at the end of September. It’s unclear when Johnny Depp and Edward Scissorhands will make their cameo.
