Josh Hutcherson’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Audition Tape

After going through that awkward stage between pre-teen and teenager while starring in such films as Zathura: A Space Adventure, Bridge to Terabithia and Journey to the Center of the Earth teen heartthrob Josh Hutcherson found some time to audition for The Amazing Spider-Man a role that was ultimately handed off from Tobey Maguire to Andrew Garfield.

The special effects for a simple casting call tape are pretty impressive and ultimately Hutcherson didn’t do a bad job fighting off a bunch of bully’s at a high school.

As we all know Josh Hutcherson didn’t get the job but he soon afterwards landed the leading role of Peeta Mellark in the uber-popular The Hunger Games movie, a role that ensures him several more feature films and millions of dollars in future pay.

The results of this video left commenting viewers mixed on the results, there did not seem to be an in-between, you either love the casting call and think she should have gotten the role or you are happy Andrew Garfield landed the gig and took The Amazing Spider-Man to a whole new level.

In any case it is impressive to see a special effects heavy casting tape being created as it goes to show how much attention to detail was given to the creation of the Spider-Man reboot.
