Gwen Stefani To Mentor Team Blake Shelton On ‘The Voice’ Amid Baby Rumor: Blake Throws ‘Hissy Fit’ To Keep Gwen

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton suffered through highly publicized divorces last year before blossoming as a couple after starting their romance on The Voice. The canoodling crooners delighted fans as they paraded their PDA in some of the highlights of the last season. With their hook-up heating up over the holidays, Gwen and Blake visited their hometowns in California and Oklahoma, cheered at a football game in Arizona, and even recently went to a Nashville wedding together, where Stefani caught the bouquet.

Now that it’s almost time for a new season of The Voice, some fans were worried that Shelton and Stefani would be separated, because Christina Aguilera is set to replace Gwen on The Voice in that big red coach chair. But it’s all been worked out, because Stefani will take on a new role as the mentor to Team Blake Shelton, reported Us Weekly.

In addition to Gwen, Sean “Diddy” Combs will work with Pharrell Williams, Tori Kelly will mentor Team Adam Levine, and Patti LaBelle will advise Christina Aguilera’s group. Season 10 of The Voice premieres February 29 at 8 p.m. EST.

Does the decision to have Stefani mentor Team Blake offer a hint that their personal lives have gotten so steamy that they don’t want to be separated professionally?

Shelton and Stefani enjoyed their flirty fun on The Voice last season so much, as did viewers, that the country crooner even tried proposing that the show feature five coaches rather than four, so that both Gwen and Christina could have chairs on Season 10, the Inquisitr reported.

Blake Shelton Threatens To Quit If Gwen Stefani Gets Booted?

And when that didn’t work, Shelton decided to orchestrate a showdown by threatening to quit The Voice, a source told Radar Online.

“Bosses working on the show were really left with no other choice than to bring Gwen back on!” revealed the source.

During the months since it became publicized that Aguilera, 35, would replace Stefani on The Voice, Shelton became increasingly irate, says that insider.

“[Blake] threw a huge hissy fit after Gwen was replaced by Christina. He told them that he was considering leaving if they didn’t bring her back.”

To circumvent the possibility that the popular coach would leave, producers devised the plan to have pop singer Stefani mentor country star Blake’s team. And it helped their cause that Shelton benefits from the profit he makes by being a superstar coach on the show, added the source.

“This is such a huge source of income for Blake and America loves him so they came up with a plan to bring Gwen back on as a mentor on Blake’s team,” explained the insider. “It’s a win-win situation really.”

Producers also feel that it’s better to have this arrangement, because if the relationship falls apart, they can halt the mentoring. If Shelton and Stefani get even more steamy, viewers can enjoy watching their hook-up get hotter.

“If it doesn’t work out between Blake and Gwen, than she simply stops mentoring. And if it does, well their mentoring sessions will give fans a glimpse inside their relationship,” pointed out the source.

Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton Considering Kids?

With Shelton and Stefani working together again on the singing competition, reports that the couple will be welcoming a baby together have been swirling, reported Hollywood Life.

How does the country crooner feel about children?

“Blake would be over the moon if he and Gwen end up having a baby together. Having children has been a dream of his for a long time. He comes across as a carefree, sometimes immature guy, but deep down he’s a family man who wants to be surrounded by children,” an insider told Hollywood Life.

Moreover, revealed that source, Shelton actually longed to have children when he was married to Miranda Lambert. She was so resistant to the notion that added to the causes for their divorce.

“[Blake] always wanted kids with Miranda [Lambert], but her resistance to it was part of the reason they ended up splitting,” shared the source.
