‘Star Wars’ In Disneyland: Han Solo Wants To Take You Far, Far Away

The Star Wars universe is closer to home now, and none other than Han Solo, aka Harrison Ford, is going to bring it to you. The two-hour ABC special The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 will feature Harrison Ford as he hosts a tour of new Star Wars-themed parks that are currently in the works at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, Cleveland.com has reported.

“We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single-themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said with the announcement of the Star Wars-themed park.

The two-hour TV special will celebrate the 60-year legacy of the Disneyland theme park. The star-studded event includes participants such as Elton John, Witney Carson, and Josh Gad. Derek Hough, from Dancing with the Stars, will be the master of ceremonies. It is also known that the Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” from the 1940 animated film Fantasia.

The Star Wars world will have all the essentials: droids, aliens, humanoids, and more. It is “one of the last ports before wild space,” according to Disney chairman and CEO Robert Iger, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The CEO said, “Nothing in the land will be out of character or stray from mythology. By the way, we’re currently casting for roles, so if you live on the Outer Rim there maybe a job for you.”

The announcement of a Star Wars-themed park was made by the Disney Company Chairman and CEO last year. He has said that Star Wars-themed parks will be coming to Disneyland park in Anaheim, California, reported the Disney Parks website.

Entertainment Weekly reports that there will be several attractions, including a cantina like the one in 1977’s original Star Wars. This would have all the familiar creatures that fans love. There will also be rides that will put you in the pilot’s seat, just like Han Solo’s. It’s true that ever since Star Wars came out, fans have been wanting a theme park. The Harry Potter series has got its own theme park, but that never happened with Star Wars. There was a Star Wars ride that was started in 1996, though, but the fans keep wanting more.

Ever since Star Wars hit the cinemas in 1977, it has captured the imagination of the masses. George Lucas made the Star Wars series a pop culture phenomenon and spawned a series of copycats. There have been seven episodes to the Star Wars saga so far, the last of which came out in 2015. Now, with the announcement of a theme park, it seems like fans could finally be happy!

The Star Wars saga, which takes place in a fictional galaxy, shows several species of alien creatures and robotic droids. Space travel and several planets are what the Star Wars world is made of. The films feature the Jedis, who are peacekeepers and guardians of the galaxy. The series has also inspired fan fiction, video games, and other pieces of art. Arguments and speculation of what would happen next are pretty common among Star Wars fans. In the meanwhile, Star Wars has started a new debate on who the best Jedi is. Any suggestions?
