In addition to films, over the years actress Amanda Peet has proven herself to be a great asset to television in meaty roles. Now it looks as though she’ll be joining the cast of CBS’ The Good Wife as a reoccurring character.

The Good Wife is no stranger to having fabulous guest stars. Since their three season run they have added the likes of Jason Biggs, Matthew Perry, Gary Cole, and Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer, amongst many others. Now it looks like it’s Amanda Peet’s turn to step up to play with solid lead actors Julianna Margulies, Chris Noth, and Alan Cumming.

During the fourth season of The Good Wife, Amanda Peet will join the series as a military lawyer who is involved in a very controversial story arc, as her character sues a contract worker for sexual assault. After Peet’s character tries to handle the case on her own, it’s The Good Wife’s very own Alicia Florrick who she hires to pick up the case as her lawyer. From then on the two are said to become fast friends.

Peet has always been an actress that skirts under the radar of television, having starred in the failed but critically acclaimed series Studio 60 and the defunct NBC comedy Bent. In addition her most recent guest starring stint scored big with viewers when she played Marshall Erikson’s (Jason Segel) hot employee on How I Met Your Mother in 2010.

This year for The Good Wife marks a huge bulk up in cast. In addition to Peet, the CBS drama has also added Nathan Lane, Maura Tierney, and Kristin Chenoweth who will all act as key roles in the mystery revolving around detective Kalinda’s (Archie Panjabi) husband.

The Good Wife is said to return on CBS on September 30th.
