While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, Daniel Curtin, who works at the Three Eye Sports agency that represents White, told ESPNNewYork.com that the amount is for slightly less than the veteran’s minimum of $1.4 million.

“He’s excited about it,” Curtin is quoted as saying by ESPN. “He’s going to have a chance to play. He’s come a long way since his earlier NBA stint. I think it’s a great opportunity for him, especially with the personnel he’ll be playing with. He has some elite intangibles.”

White, best known for his out of this world jumping ability, was selected by Portland in the second round, 31st overall, of the 2006 draft. He appeared in 6 NBA games with San Antonio (2006-07) — averaging 8.3 points during his time there –  and 4 with Houston (2008-09).

After his stint in the NBA, the former Cincinnati star traveled overseas and played for a handful of European clubs including Fenerbahce Ulker, the Anaheim Arsenal, Spartak Sant Petersburg, Dinamo Sassari and Scavolini Pesaro. He averaged 17.4 poings, 4.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists for Italian club Pesaro last season.

“He’s really grown,” Curtin said. “This past year, he led the league in free throws made, and his efficiency and basketball IQ were phenomenal. He was also first in the league in assists for any non-point guard. He’s made strides in the shooting department, but he’s not going to turn into Steve Novak. But his overall polish has increased quite a bit.”

In signing with the Knicks, White joins a team that recently added Marcus Camby and Jason Kidd to an already talented lineup.
