George Clooney Adopts Disabled Dog

George Clooney isn’t just a superstar (with a gorgeous wife) that you make him out to be. This Hollywood superstar is also a wonderful human being.

Luv Fur Mutts, an animal rescue home, posted a story on their website which mentioned that Nate, the Terrier, has found a new “famous” home. He was reportedly rescued from a hoarder before being taken in by the Clooneys. The post on the official website of Luv Fur Mutts said Clooney found out about Nate and posted a video of him on YouTube for his parents, Nick and Nina. Their dog of ten years had recently died, and Clooney seemed to have thought his parents’ home would be perfect for Nate. “We are thrilled to announce that Hollywood Legend, Oscar/Golden Globe/Emmy winner and most impressively – philanthropist – George Clooney adopted our Prince Nate!,” the animal shelter home, based near Cincinnati, posted on their website. It was reported on the website that Nate was delivered to Nick and Nina on Christmas. However, Luv Fur Mutts decided to delay the story because “they did not want to infringe upon Clooneys’ Chiristmas holidays.”

The animal group has even gone so far as to make Nate’s new-found celebrity status their home page. “You can all me Nate, Nate Clooney,” is the headline on a collage the group has posted on their official website.

The website said in the post that George Clooney or his parents did not fuss about the condition the dog was in. The terrier was born with some birth defects–a leg that swayed and a barrel chest– he also “walked like a hyena”. “What is impressive is the fact that George (Clooney) picked Nate out and Nick and Nina accepted Nate just the way he is,” the post says. “They could have any dog in the world but they chose to adopt a dog who was crippled and could have been with LuvFurMutts (sic) for life. Those of us who grew up listening to Nick’s voice on TV and awing at how beautiful Nina is, have also witnessed how they have always given back to their community,” the post said. For a long nine months, the adopters had been ignoring the little dog until Clooney came into picture, says the New York Post. The dog now lives with Nick and Nina Clooney (George Clooney’s parents) in Kentucky.

The website goes on to say that Nate came to them “from a hoarding case of 22 dogs.” The group said they took in 11 of them. There was one adopter who even cried and said “she would be depressed the rest of her life if she had to look at him every day.” The post further said: “Why could they not see what we saw in him? A handsome, charming, sweet and normal little boy. Little did we know someone had been ogling over him for a while watching his videos and reading his profile and Nate was about to get a very special Christmas surprise!” It was definitely a very big surprise. George Clooney himself came to rescue and gifted the dog to his parents.

This is not the first time George Clooney has shown his philanthropic side. In December last year, Clooney helped launch a campaign that fed the homeless in Scotland on Christmas Day. Clooney reportedly visited Social Bit, a non-profit organization that gives proceeds to charity, the Mirror reported. George Clooney visited Edinburgh after the owner of the sandwich shop, Social Bite, invited him to pledge £5 for the appeal. Clooney also met those who were homeless, but now had jobs in shops. Clooney’s wife, Amal, is also known for several such efforts in her capacity as a lawyer. One can definitely see George Clooney’s passion to make a difference!
