Linda Chase: Woman Kept Dead Boyfriend In Living Room For Almost Two Years

Jackson, MI — Local resident Linda Chase is being questioned by police after they found her mummified boyfriend sitting in his reclining chair in her living room.

The Huffington Post reports that police discovered Charles Williams Zigler’s remains in Linda Chase’s house on July 6, following a house call to make sure he was alright. His family had not heard from him “in a long while.”

Chase spoke with Michigan Live, saying that:

“It’s not that I’m heartless. It’s just that after so many bad things happen to you, I don’t know. I didn’t want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me.”

Well, heartless or not, when Chase stated that Zigler fell asleep in his reclining chair “a few months ago” and never woke up. She covered him with blankets and left him there, but continued to cash in on the 67-year-old’s Social Security checks.

Cops disagree regarding how long it has been since Zigler died. While she states it has been a few months, an autopsy report shows that Zigler died around Christmas 2010.

Another discrepancy between police and Linda Chase is the nature of hers and Zigler’s relationship. While cops have said that he was her boyfriend, Chase contends that he was simply a friend. WILX reports that Chase explained:

“We were friends; good friends. We fished together, we worked together … I didn’t have to go to work with him, but I did to help.”

The Huffington Post notes that Jackson Police spokesperson Chris Simpson informed them they hope to charge Chase with fraud soon for signing Zigler’s name and cashing his Social Security checks. Simpson stated:

“The investigation is ongoing. We’re talking with a local prosecutor and hopefully we can get some charges soon.”
