Kesha’s Future: Asks Fans For Support, Records Emotional Cover Of ‘Amazing Grace’

Kesha was to learn about the fate of her music career in a New York court on Tuesday, Jan. 26, but winter storm Jonas forced the date back to Feb. 19. With her music career in limbo, the pop star has thanking fans for their ongoing support and venting her feelings to them via social media.

Kesha took to Instagram to vent her feelings about the impending court date before it was changed. She shared a photo of a scribbled note along with a lengthy caption about her nerves over her upcoming court date.

“Tomorrow – nerves are going nuts. can’t sleep. but I know in the end it’s all gonna be ok. it’s a f***ing rollercoaster but that’s life. and I will never stop making art. maybe my life will go down an unexpected path, but the message will always be the same. love, acceptance, compassion, equal rights, human rights, animal rights. and that really is my passion and purpose. and no one can ever stop me from fighting the good fight. don’t worry babes. luv you all. #FreeKesha”

Fans took notice of the hashtag and took to social media to share their support for the singer-songwriter. Some even used it to ask other fans to show up to the courthouse with signs asking for Kesha’s freedom from her Sony contract.

But just hours before the court hearing was supposed to take place, Kesha took to social media to let her fans know that the court date was moved due to the storm. She also apologized to those who prepared to show up at the courthouse to support her. Kesha shared a black-and-white selfie with a tear rolling down her face along with the following caption.

“tears because I know my animals spent time and money and love and effort to come support me and I cannot help in any way. I’m so sorry. I just spent the past hour reading about everyone and how much effort they went to to come and I’m heartbroken and I’m so sorry;((( I wish I could control this somehow but I can’t and it’s so frustrating…”

Kesha is currently banned from releasing new music while she’s involved in her legal battle with both Sony Music and producer Dr. Luke, but she’s still finding other ways to express herself. Over the past weekend, Kesha posted a video on YouTube of her cover of “Amazing Grace.” The video shows a raw, emotional, and vulnerable side of the singer that no one, not even her fans, has seen before.

Right now, Kesha’s music career is in limbo. Until Feb. 19, she will learn whether she’ll have to continue working with Dr. Luke and his recording label, or never release new music ever again.

That’s not stopping the singer from experimenting with her current music. She teamed up with a new band in Nashville to record some punk versions of her pop songs and to cover some other songs in the meantime.

Kesha was known for her hit songs like “Tik Tok,” “Die Young,” and “Crazy Kids.” For the past three years, she’s been facing these legal battles. On Oct. 20, 2013, she filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke for alleged sexual assault and harassment, according to Billboard. In the 28-page lawsuit, Kesha alleges that Dr. Luke verbally and physically abused her during the time they worked together. She also said that he drugged and raped her while she was unconscious.

Kesha also said that she was a victim of emotional harassment, claiming that she was fat-shamed by being called a “fat refrigerator.” The emotional and physical abuse that she endured during their working period has led her to develop an eating disorder.

She reportedly checked into the Timberline Knolls rehab center near Chicago, Illinois to seek treatment for 30 days, which she successfully did.

“I’m a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I’ve found it hard to practice. I’ll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder… to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am.”
