Vanessa Hudgens Fights For Her Father

Last year, Vanessa Hudgens found out her father had stage four cancer. With this knowledge, she went to friends, family, and fans to help her through a tough situation. She asked everyone connected to her on social media to pray for her father as he goes through the illness and to pray for his healing. In August of last year, Vanessa went on stage to receive an award and, after her speech, she told everyone about the devastating news. She dedicated her award to her father, boyfriend’s mother, and anyone else who is affected by cancer. Austin Butler, Vanessa’s boyfriend, lost his mother to cancer last year. To be affected so quickly once again is a difficult thing to deal with, and Hudgens is doing what she can to help.

Vanessa Hudgens did not come out about what type of cancer her father has. While this may seem inconsequential now that it is stage four, the type of cancer greatly affects how the illness is treated. According to Hollywood Life, the actress has been dealing with a lot of pain recently and on January 24, she announced that her father’s condition has worsened. While this is a difficult situation to be in and it is having a significant affect on her, she has a lot of friends, family, and fans to support her. Dealing with cancer is difficult, especially when it is affecting someone so close to you, and Vanessa is very strong and brave to be telling everyone about her father’s condition and talking about it. While it is very difficult on her, one can only imagine what her father is feeling. He has to either decide to go through chemotherapy, which will make you very sick and uncomfortable itself, or choose to go a different path — either a different way to fight the disease, or to not fight it at all. Many people with stage four cancer choose to not battle the cancer and instead choose to enjoy the time they have left with their family and friends.

Cancer does not develop like most illnesses — the cancer cell is your body, mutated, and is there when you are born and always there. What determines if you have cancer or not is when your body’s cells begin to grow more quickly than they are supposed to. When someone has lung cancer because they were smoking for most of their life, it is not that smoking gave them cancer cells, but that the organ’s cells began to overproduce due to the tar and other damaging materials in cigarettes. According to NBC News, most cancers can now be linked to genes. We can now see that, depending on the type of cancer Vanessa Hudgens’ father has, he may have contracted it due to ill-fated genes. This would also mean Vanessa herself is at a higher risk of developing cancer in the future and should be regularly tested.

It would have made a big difference for Vanessa and her father if the cancer would have been discovered in an earlier stage. The different stages of cancer express how far it has moved throughout the body. If you have stage one cancer, the cancer is only in one area, such as in your thyroid or breast. Stage one cancer can often be easily removed and the process of treatment and healing is quicker and easier on the patient. The further the cancer spreads, the more difficult it is to remove it. In Vanessa Hudgens’ father’s case, the cancer cannot simply be removed, considering he is at stage four and the cancer has spread to many regions of his body. This is a difficult situation and if he survives the illness, it will be a true miracle. Because of this, it is easy to see why Vanessa is asking the world for prayers for her father!
