Joey Feek Cancer Update: Rory Feek Finds Comfort In Blogging About His Dying Wife

With Joey Feek’s cancer continuing to progress, her husband, Rory Feek, has been documenting the heartbreaking journey on a blog entitled, This Life I Live. Since Joey discontinued her treatment in October of 2015, Rory has shared numerous photographs and stories about her and the rest of their family. While Joey does not have a lot of time left, Rory has made it a point to cherish every single day that he has remaining with his dying wife.

In speaking to People, Rory explained his reasoning for the regularly updated blog. Since many of the stories are extremely personal, he is using the blog as an outlet and for comfort.

“I am a songwriter who hasn’t been writing songs in the last couple of years, so sitting down and writing these stories about our lives has been a wonderful creative outlet for me. Each blog post has also been therapeutic for me, in the sense that there are some parts of what we’re going through that I’m not sure what to make of. Writing about it helps me to sort out what I feel and how to respond to the twists and turns that life has taken us on. Without realizing I was doing it, God has allowed me to capture hours and hours of Joey and her life at home on the farm, raising Indiana and playing music. I can’t help but believe that those clips will be an important part of keeping Joey’s memory alive in Indy’s heart.”

In addition to Joey, one of the other main stars of the blog is the couple’s baby daughter, Indy. Since Indy is still not even a two-year-old yet, she is not likely to remember much of Joey. For that reason, Rory is using every day to capture more footage and pictures with Joey and Indy.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Rory made a simple, yet meaningful, post on his blog about shopping for new clothes for Indy at Kohl’s. After finding the perfect shirt with the word “Indiana” written on it, Rory instantly knew that was the one. While Joey was feeling especially tired that day, Rory explained how much she started smiling after he put Indy in the room with her. It sounds like such a minor detail, but it meant the world to Rory and Joey at the time, and now Indy will be able to look back on the photographs when she is older.

While Rory Feek has not updated the blog since January 16, 2016, he should be providing the current status of Joey’s condition any day now. In his latest update on This Life I Live, Rory discusses Joey’s potentially last meeting with her best friend, Julie. After initially attending many of Joey and Rory’s concerts as a fan, Julie got to know the couple. Over the past eight years, Julie and Joey grew even closer, and they consider themselves to be best friends. In her recent trip to see Joey, Julie even cut off all of her hair in support of her friend.

With Joey no longer undergoing treatments, it is only a matter of time before her untimely passing. On February 12, 2016, Joey and Rory’s final album entitled, Hymns That Are Important to Us, will be released, as reported by The Inquisitr. During the recording of the album, Joey was still in the process of going through exhausting treatments. The duo actually first started recording the album after Joey’s first major surgery was completed. Throughout the process, Joey apparently had her struggles, but she pushed through and was determined to complete the album.

Over the past few weeks, doctors have had to increase the dosage of morphine in order to keep Joey comfortable. Fortunately for Joey Feek, she will get to spend her remaining days around a loving husband in Rory, an adorable daughter in Indy, and other family members and friends who will provide the necessary support that she needs and deserves.
