Dave Bautista: ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2’ Production Begins In February With Him In ‘Drax Mode’

Former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista is preparing for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 in a photo he released on Twitter. In the photo, he can be seen flexing his impressive physique in the gym, alongside the hashtag #Draxmode.

Being one of the most impressive successes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, GotG brought a relatively unknown team of characters to the big screen. Among them were Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and Drax (Dave Bautista), a group of outlaws forced by their own need for survival to work together and save a world targeted by Ronan (Lee Pace). Among the most imposing members of the team was Drax, a musclebound maniac whose understanding of things like sarcasm were a running joke throughout the film.

Dave Bautista is officially ready to rejoin the Guardians of the Galaxy, though this time perhaps with his sense of humor a little more ready to handle some newcomers. Of course, his lack of understanding about common turns of phrase was part of what made him stand out (besides his physique and tendency toward violence).

According to Blastr, Dave Bautista and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by some new and possibly returning faces. The biggest new addition (literally) is rumored to be the living planet, Ego, as the main villain.

This could be a new source of ridicule for Michael Bay’s Transformers series, as fans have been waiting for their own living planet to make an appearance. So far, there have been no confirmed plans to introduce Unicron, the planet-devouring predecessor to the Decepticons, or his rival, Primus, to the series.

The mere spectacle of seeing a villain that large on the silver screen could possibly dwarf the MCU’s main antagonist, Thanos, giving Disney more of a challenge in the years ahead.

Another possible addition to the team is Gamora’s sister, Nebula (Karen Gillan), which would offer a whole new rivalry to match that of the original film. While she had been a villain the last time, she might decide to work alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, and possibly confuse Dave Bautista’s Drax with her intentions.

Evening out the female side of the roster a little more could be the addition of Mantis, a martial artist and telepath with the ability to communicate with plant life. It might be interesting to see her and Rocket start fighting over who Groot likes more, adding yet another dimension to the overall cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.

Dave Bautista’s Drax might have further issues with the final rumored addition to the group. That guy who can whistle and kill an entire army with a telekinetic needle might be joining them as well. Yes, Yondu (Michael Rooker) may be putting aside his differences with Star Lord and letting Peter Quill’s little trick at the end of the first film go.

There is a lot of potential with the rumored additions to the team, and the film is set to enter production in February. Dave Bautista is ready, already buffing up for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 in “Drax mode.”
