Tim Duncan will remain a franchise cornerstone for the San Antonio Spurs for a little while longer after agreeing to a new three-year contract with the team on Tuesday afternoon. Still only a rumor at this time the contract can not be signed until the league sanctioned moratorium on business transactions is lift on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old NBA star who is entering the dawn of his career is expected to receive upwards of $36 million for the next three years, the same amount offered to Kevin Garnett by the Boston Celtics.

The two-time MVP played well last season, averaging 15.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. A 15-year veteran of the National Basketball Association, Tim Duncan was drafted No. 1 overall in 1997 and has remained with the San Antonio Spurs ever since that time.

Over the life of his career Tim Duncan has averaged 20.3 points and 11.3 rebounds in 1,111 games. With his help the Spurs have won four NBA championships.

Also receiving new deals will be Guard Danny Green who as a restricted free agent will get $11.3 million for three years and forward Boris Diaw who will receive a two-year contract worth $9 million. Diaw’s contract also includes several incentives that could net him upwards of $9.2 million

Green started in 38 games for the Spurs last season and averaged 9.1 points per game with 43% shooting from 3-point range.

Diaw who was waived by the Charlotte Bobcats in March pulled down 4.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 20 outings with the San Antonio Spurs
