Python Wrapped Around Baby Sends Family To Hospital

Baby attacked by python, saved by father.

An Illinois father received the scare of life after he checked on his son in the middle of the night and found a 2 foot-long python wrapped around his baby boy, reports ABC.

Devan Winans says that he heard his 1 year-old son stirring in his crib late Monday night when he decided to check on him. As he approached the crib in the dark, he began to feel around and knew something wasn’t right.

“When I felt it it was slimy and I knew that wasn’t normal,” said Winans. “When it turned on the light, I saw a python wrapped around his foot constricting, trying to eat his foot.”

Frantically trying to drag the snake off the boy’s foot, Winans picked up a blanket, grabbed ahold of the snake and pulled him off of the boy and out of the crib. With blood everywhere, Winan called the boy’s mother for help.

“I saw the blood all over his foot and grabbed him from Devin,” Sara Lacey said.

KSDK reports that the Illinois couple raced their son to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

After an investigation of the matter, authorities said that the 2 foot-long python belonged to the neighbor next door and that he had been cited for his offense.

“I’m so thankful he’s ok,” Winans said.

“We’re still practicing walking on his hurt foot, but it could have been a lot worse if he wrapped around his chest and we probably wouldn’t be having his first birthday today.”

What would you do if you found out that it was your neighbors pet snake that had found its way into your baby’s crib?

I don't think they would be my neighbors any more, because my husband would have gone over there and killed them…

  2. Snake was hungry, left in search of food. The owner should be thrown in jail.

  3. I would of worn snake skin shoes and my neighbor would have worn an azz whooping.

Why does someone have a python as a pet or a snarling pit bull? Just can't quite feel the love of owning predators and exposure of great bodily harm or death. When the python owner's property insurance carrier gets the claim for injury and medical expenses which they'll have to pay, the property owner will meet another predator; the personal injury lawyer.

  5. The snake would be dead and the idiot who owned it would have a bloody nose and a law suit to match

  6. I would have killed the snake and my fiance probably would have chewed the neighbors out.

  7. I would fuck the neighbor up about that damn snake poor lil baby.

  8. That would have been one "DEAD" snake. The end.

  9. What would I do? Bust a cap……

  10. I know that's right!!

AFTER I shot the snake, I'd be raising holy he! with it's former owners, and they'd have paid my baby's hospital bill, possibly more after I spent some time thinking about it.

  12. it should be illegal to own them, it is an exotic creature that should be only be in the jungle where it belongs.

  14. 2ft long..rather small individual python. Glad it wasn't a bigger one, or discussion would be mute. Owner was in same building? apartment next door? Owner didn't keep case locked? didn't feed it? As for owner's insurer: With such poor management of snake, doubt that there was an insurer. Fast track for owner to be homeless now too!

  15. first and formost the snake would have been dead, then I would sue the owner for everything and then I would own the appartments and have all the assets that the appartment manager. I would own it all!

  16. I would feed the snake to my neighbors via tacos , and tell them after they ate then beat the bark off of them.

The snake would be dead and the owner would be in court.

  18. This comment is kind of funny when you have no idea what possible article it could be attached to.

  19. snakes feel like silk, the bite was from the foot being pulled from mouth, the teeth point in manner that one must push back to remove, if they wrap around just get the head or tail & unwrap, pull they constrict…I love them but am sure I would have paniced & did same as the father did..depending on size they eat whatever? had it been cared for properly would not have tried to eat, only snuggled to stay warm…pet owners are usually at fault when any "critter" accident occurs

  20. Affirmative…

  21. Snake would be dead lawsuit on neighbors hands

The snake was more than likely searching for a heat source, a small python only bites as a defensive measure.
