WWE News: 2016 WWE Hall Of Fame List Leaked, Major Members Including The Fabulous Freebirds Set To Go In

The WWE Hall of Fame is always a big deal for the former talent that get inducted. Some go in long overdue. Others go in well before you thought they would. People like Edge and Shawn Michaels were first ballot when they retired, as they went in a year after they said goodbye from in-ring action. Others, like “Macho Man” Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior, went in way too late. Regardless, the stars going in all deserve it, usually. Even Koko B. Ware.

Now, we have a better idea of who is going in, as What Culture was able to talk with someone from WWE regarding the people that are set to go in the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame in just a few short months.

The names known so far are Sting, who has already been announced. The others are JBL, The Godfather, Jacqueline, Regis Philbin, and The Fabulous Freebirds.

All are deserving, sorta. Regis will, of course, go into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame. Regis has had wrestlers on his talk shows of Regis and Kathy Lee and Regis and Kelly over the years. He also called a match at WrestleMania 7, and did some other interviews with WWE. So, he qualified enough to be a celebrity entrant into the hall.

Charles Wright, also known as The Godfather, was known as more of a showman than wrestler. Whether he had his women with him or he was censoring people, Godfather was always fun to see in a WWE ring. He is a former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion who spent over a decade with WWE on his own and in various factions. He is well-known among Attitude Era fans, but he does have a lot of love from current generation fans who saw him a bit during the mid-2000s.

Jacqueline, also known as Jackie, is a great person to see on the WWE Hall of Fame list. She is a former two time WWE Women’s Champion, as well as a former WWE Crusierweight Champion. She is a native Texan, so it makes all the sense in the world to induct her into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame.

John Bradshaw Layfield is known worldwide as a brilliant business man. Before this, however, he was known for being a great tag team specialist with his partner, Faarooq, whom he won the WWE Tag Team Titles three times with. He was great on his own, as well, as he was able to win the WWE Hardcore Title seventeen times during and after his tag team time. He also won the WWE Intercontinental and European Title once. When he and Ron Simmons broke up, he went into the singles world full-time.

It was then that JBL was born, and he used his real-life business success to create an excellent character that was similar to that of Ted DiBiase turned up a notch.

This led to him winning the WWE United States Championship, and eventually the WWE Championship. He ended up having a near year long reign, and is to this day the longest reigning WWE Champion in the SmackDown brand’s history.

JBL is also a native Texan who makes complete sense for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame. The honor is certainly deserved, as JBL is one of the most worthy candidates that had yet to go in.

Possibly the most anticipated group that fans have begged for is The Fabulous Freebirds, who will be going into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame. Every member will be going into the Hall, including long time WWE creative team writer Michael “PS” Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, Terry Gordy, and Buddy Roberts. Possibly most known for creating the “freebird rule,” this team was known for pushing the limits of tag team and faction warfare.

The Freebirds are best known for their WCCW rivalry with The Von Erich family, who are already in the WWE Hall of Fame. They were only in WWE for a cup of coffee as a team, but they won several tag team championships across a number of companies from WCCW to NWA, WCW, UFW, and Georgia Championship Wrestling. In total, they have twenty seven recognized tag titles, but over thirty actual title reigns. This puts them as one of the most successful groups in the history of professional wrestling.

Clearly the Freebirds, among all candidates on this list, deserve to go into the WWE Hall of Fame and any wrestling based Hall of Fame there is.

Other names are still possible to go into this year’s WWE Hall of Fame. People such as Vader have been rumored already, so this is possibly not the complete list. WWE could add more. As of now, it does look pretty full though. Sting will obviously headline the event, but a lot of deserving people are going in for sure.
