Lady Gaga Collaborator Elton John ‘Didn’t Rate’ Gaga’s Last Album

Elton John is working with Lady Gaga because if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. John wasn’t impressed with Gaga’s last album, ARTPOP, and “didn’t rate” it at all, according to the Mirror.

Elton John recently opened up about his feelings on Lady Gaga’s album, ARTPOP. Elton told Zane Lowe on Beats 1 that he thought “it was not a good album” and even said that Gaga herself would likely agree. Zane and Elton were discussion John’s recent decision to do a written collaboration with the Italian-American pop sensation Lady Gaga. Although Elton has very little positive feedback on the ARTPOP album, he has some friendly words for Gaga’s recent music.

John talked about Gaga’s work on American Horror Story, an anthology television series with myriad stars and guests that has taken modern television by storm. MTV News reports that Elton likes this side of Gaga’s artistic expression. He also mentioned the pop star’s Oscar tribute to Julie Andrews and the “kind of amazing” collaborative album and tour that Gaga did with Tony Bennett. Clearly, Elton believes in Lady Gaga’s amazing work, and thinks that collaborations are a good idea for her. Fans are excited to hear what the two pop music legends create together!

Elton’s own respect for music and artistry is clear to see, as he follows up his critique with compliments and an offer of help. The upcoming album will not be the first time the two artists, Gaga and John, have worked together. Previously, they have worked together on TV and movies, as is the case with the Thanksgiving special from the Muppets. Even so, their previous cooperation is only a delectable taste of what’s to come with their first official, pop music collaboration.

The collaboration doesn’t stop there, as John has also offered up his experience and talent to help Gaga with some of her other work, including some new songs.

“I’ve heard two songs, which are killer.”

Elton promises fans a little mix of classic Gaga magic in her new work, teasing that Gaga’s new album is “like back to the early stuff of hers — like ‘You and I’ and the Bruce Springsteen one (as I always call it), ‘Bad Romance’.” This is exciting news for those of us who have come to miss the upbeat, artsy tone of the Lady’s early work, which is mostly absent in her new experimental, pop-styled music.

The 68-year-old music legend announced his collaboration with Gaga, 29, on Tuesday. Elton, who was born Reginald Dwight, has other important collaborative works with Lady G on the assembly line. The Daily Mail mentions that Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, will be collaborating with John on some serious issues. The two will bring their LGBT/AIDS foundation’s together, creating unprecedented support for LGBT sufferers of AIDS. The Golden Globe winner is inspired to be working with Elton John.

“He inspires me in ways I could not even begin to list properly.”

In addition to the remarkable talents of Elton John, the Lady has also gathered some other notables for her new album. The list of names includes producers like Giorgio Moroder, RedOne and Mark Ronson, who will certainly help to make an excellent, hit-packed album. Gaga tells us that the professional team-ups of the two sensations are a sign of a close personal relationship, saying of John, “He is my friend. He is like a parent.” Exciting news, and hopefully a sign of more collaborations to come!
