The terrorism suspect known as ‘White Widow,’ Samantha Lewthwaite, is believed to be recruiting and training women in Eastern Africa to become all female terror squads.
The British Press dubbed 28-year-old Irish-born Lewthwaite the ‘White Widow’ because she is the widow of Germaine Lindsay, the suicide bomber that blew up a subway train in London as part of the coordinated 7/7 terror attack (in reference to the fact that they occurred on July 7, 2005) killing himself and 26 other people.
An international manhunt for the ‘White Widow’ Lewthwaite began last December when she fled Mombasa, Kenya’s main coast city, with her three children after authorities suspected her of being part of a planned Islamist terrorist attack to use chemical bombs on Western tourist targets. The Daily Mail reports she is also the prime suspect for a grenade attack that killed 3 people in a Kenyan bar where tourists were watching the Euro 2012 match between England and Italy.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, an anonymous blog entry on a website used by the Muslim Youth Centre (a radical Kenyan pro-jihadi movement) supports intelligence gathered by authorities that she is training all-female terror squads:
“More than five times our ‘Dada Mzungu’ [white sister in Swahili] has defeated the kuffar [non-Muslims] in Kenya and Tanzania. She gave her life to Allah and she now serves Allah as His female soldier. In +252 [Somalia] she commands her ‘all-female mujahid terror squad’ and conducts her operations against the kuffar…Now every Muslim sister wants to be like our ‘Dada Mzungu’. Inshall’allah, I will join you.”
Lewthwaite is believed to be in southern Somalia where she is being protected by al-Shabaab, the country’s militant Islamist army.
Officials from Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism unit have joined the hunt for Lewthwaite in Kenya.
Handwritten notes that may have been authored by Lewthwaithe found by authorities at her last known residence in Mombasa indicate the ‘White Widow’ is also raising her children to be Islamist jihadis, reports Huffington Post.
