‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12 Spoilers — Sarah Drew Talks About The Fate Of April And Jackson

The mid-season finale of Grey’s Anatomy left many fans wondering what will become of April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson’s (Jesse Williams) marriage. Unfortunately, that question will not be answered when the show first returns from its winter break. Luckily, Drew recently opened up about her character and revealed some of what fans can expect to unfold in the second half of Season 12.

According to Christian Today, things between April and Jackson have been problematic in recent episode, so much so that many fans suspect things might get worse for the couple before they get better.

In fact, during the last episode, Jackson was set to tell April something important before the episode cut out. The exact details on what Jackson was gearing up to say are unknown, and it really could go anyway. On one hand, the two might start to re-build their marriage, while on the other, a divorce may be on the way.

In speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Drew explained how the questions surrounding April and Jackson would not be addressed in the first episodes of the second half of Season 12. Fortunately, the answers will come eventually, but it may take a few episodes in to find out April and Jackson’s fate.

“It was so fun to shoot, an epic journey and every actor’s dream, basically,” Drew shared about her character’s big moment.

Although many fans realize that things don’t look good for the couple, Drew was optimistic about the outcome. In particular, Drew promised fans that there would always be hope for April and Jackson, no matter what circumstances come their way.

“As long as they’re alive, there is always hope. No matter what, they really, desperately love one another,” she explained in the interview. “They’re in a really rough spot, but there is always hope.”

Whether or not this means that April and Jackson will stick together is yet to be seen. If anything, Drew’s comments offer a glimmer of hope for fans who would love to see the couple remain together. After all, April and Jackson have weathered a number of difficult storms in the past and have managed to make it through all right.

Meanwhile, instead of focusing on April and Jackson’s marriage, the next two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy will center on Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and a coming incident at the hospital. According to Design & Trend, Meredith will be assaulted in the episode and left in a perilous state as she contends with another physical injury.

In a recent appearance at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Kelly McCreary told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming obstacle facing Meredith is worse than anything the character has dealt with in past seasons.

“In other instances where Meredith came close to death, she has had a little bit of control over the situation. She could save herself in some way, or make a choice that might help herself. But in this case she’s physically impaired in a way that she has not been before,” McCreary explained in the interview.

While the exact nature of Meredith’s injuries is unknown, McCreary’s comments reveal that the situation will be dire. How this affects Meredith’s mental state, especially considering everything she went through last season, is definitely something to look out for.

Will Meredith be able to make it through her ideal in one piece? Will April and Jackson be able to salvage their marriage and keep their relationship intact? Hopefully, Grey’s Anatomy will answer these questions and more when the hit medical drama returns to television next month.

Season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy is set to return with “The Sound of Silence” on February 11 on ABC.
