Kelly Clarkson Denies Gay Rumors (Again)

American Idol almun Kelly Clarkson has once again denied rumors that she is gay.

Clarkson, who has been tearing up the Billboard charts with her hit single Stronger, recently talked to Lucky magazine to clear up allegations that she prefers dating members of the same sex.

“There’s all these rumors that I’m a lesbian,” Clarkson is quoted as saying in Lucky. “I have a boyfriend now, Brandon Blackstock, my manager Narvel’s son, Reba McEntire’s stepson? I just had my 30th birthday and we went turkey shooting. It’s what I wanted to do, so we went.”

When asked if her romance with Blackstock was an instant connection, Clarkson said:

“I’ve known him for six years, but he was married. Then suddenly, there he was at the Super Bowl, and he was single.”

According to the Christian Post, Clarkson has been dealing with gay rumors for quite some time. While the singer has been linked to a handful of guys in the past, her notorious single status is the main reason that many have speculated that she might be homosexual.

“I’m from a small town, so, like, everyone’s married with children or about to have children. So it’s a little hard when you go home and people are like- and that’s why people think I’m gay- because they’re like, ‘Why aren’t you married?’ And I’m like, ‘It doesn’t happen for everyone right off the bat,'” she told the hosts of “The View” back in 2011.

Though the constant rumors would probably get the better of some artists, Kelly says she just lets them roll off her back.

“If I was [gay], I’d say, ‘I love women!’” Clarkson told UK’s Now Magazine in February.

In addition to spending time with her new beau, Clarkson is busy setting records in the music industry.

On July 4, Clarkson’s Stronger became the best-selling Idol single of all time, surpassing the long-time champion, Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats.”
