Nicki Minaj Shares Pics From The Set Of Her New TV Show On Instagram

Rapper Nicki Minaj is definitely proud of her girls, whom she personally picked for her upcoming sitcom Nicki. The 33-year-old singer’s autobiographical TV sitcom has started filming, and the rapper could not contain her excitement to see her new venture in action.

On Wednesday, Minaj took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes photos with the cast of Nicki.

“I’m still working on their collective name. Wait until u see these girls in action,” she wrote. ” … I’m slightly obsessed with them. Handpicked ALL OF THEM!!!!! Very PROUD!!!!!!!!” Minaj captioned one of the snaps like a proud mother.

“Can’t wait to introduce u to my little babies.???? had so much fun with them today on set. #Nicki #ExecutiveProducer #Freeform #ABCFamily I’m gonna eat them????????” she captioned another photo in which she poses with her new girl squad.

The comedy series is about her childhood experiences before she became the rap princess we now know. On Monday, the Nicki team started filming in Jamaica, Queens with Ariana Neal playing the young Minaj.

Neal was photographed scrubbing graffiti off a wall in a New York City neighborhood on their first shooting day. The young, mini Nicki Minaj was in character while wearing a bright red jacket with animal print lining, grey pants, and black boots.

The “Anaconda” hitmaker handpicked 10-year-old Neal after the young girl wowed her with her singing. Minaj even shared a snapshot of Neal’s performance, telling her more than 45 million Instagram followers that she “literally cried watching her taped audition.”

She continued: “I demanded to meet her! Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table & forcing her to stay on beat! Lol.”

“Then pulled out all the attitude she had in her lil body. Haha! She’s tough! And so sweet & cute. #ArianaNeal #LilNicki Welcome to the family lil lady bug,” she wrote, welcoming the talented young girl to her upcoming autobiographical TV series.

Nicki is written by Kate Angelo and directed by Tim Story. On September Freeform, it was announced that Nicki Minaj will executive produce the half-hour sitcom, but the premiere date is yet to be announced.

Fans will get the chance to have a peek into the rapper’s life as a child and her family’s migration from her hometown of Trinidad to New York City in the early ’90s. The show will focus on her formative years as a young girl aspiring to be a musician.

In another photo, the “Super Bass” singer is seen posing with the series director, Tom Story. “On set today shootin my tv show???????? #Nicki with director Tim Story @tstory88,” she wrote.

Nicki Minaj named some of the cast members of her newest TV series last fall, with Selita EBanks playing the role of her mother, Wesley Jonathan as her father, McCarre McCausland portraying her brother, and comedienne Whoopi Goldberg as their neighbor, Miss Martha.

“I am honored and excited to announce that I’ve literally handpicked the main characters of my scripted series ‘Nicki,'” she wrote on Instagram as she announced the members of her newest project.
