A former Marine in Texas worked to bring his girlfriend’s rapist to justice, even going to far as to befriend the alleged rapist in order to collect video evidence of the assault, according to police.
The Huffington Post reports that the victim claimed she visited Elric Shawn Millner’s apartment in August 2010. She informed police that the suspect gave her large quantities of alcohol and when she woke up the next day, she had no idea what happened the night before.
KHOU notes that Millner showed the girl, who was 17 at the time, two videos of what occurred the night before. The first video showed Millner forcing her to perform sexual acts on him, while she vomited and urinated on herself because she was so drunk. Millner could be heard laughing at her expense.
The second video showed the suspect asking the teen girl to engage in another sex act with him. When she said ,”No,” he ignored her and forced himself upon her, according to police. the video shows her begging him to stop, because she was in pain, but Millner ignores her, assuring her he knew she liked it.
The girl stayed silent about the encounter for more than a year, but confided in her new boyfriend, a former Marine, about what happened, reports The Huffington Post.
According to KTRK, the man, who had been a MP with the Marines, made it his mission to take his new girlfriend’s case to the police. He even befriended Millner, in hopes to get the video evidence of her rape. Prosecutor Adam Muldrow explained that he, “talked to the old boyfriend about the complainant, pretending he was upset with her.”
Millner not only confirmed the allegations against him to the former Marine, but he also showed him the video, and the two went to police with their evidence. Two weeks later, Elric Shawn Millner is behind bars, with the video he kept for two years being entered as evidence against him.
