One Direction’s Niall Horan In ‘Shock’ Split With Selena Gomez

Niall Horan has been strongly rumored to be dating former Disney star Selena Gomez in recent weeks. Horan and Gomez were spotted together on a number of occasions, so, naturally, they were portrayed as 2016’s big celebrity romance. It has to be said that any time Horan and his One Direction bandmates are spotted in the same state as a woman, a dating rumor is sure to emerge. Such is the case of Niall and Selena. It may be that with One Direction’s forthcoming hiatus drawing closer, some sections of the media are desperate for a story, any story, about Niall and his mates.

Of course, the real likelihood is that Niall and Selena were never actually dating, but some people believe the truth should never get in the way of a good story. Rumors of a romance between Horan and Gomez continued to circulate even after the Mirror reported that Selena emphatically denied that she was dating Niall.

Most One Direction fans take matchmaking stories involving Horan or his band-mates with a huge pinch of salt. The legend of the “winter girlfriend” is reminiscent of “groundhog day.” Every winter, shortly after One Direction’s tour wraps up, we see a host of stories linking a member of One Direction with one beautiful woman or another. Previous years have traditionally featured Harry Styles, but this year has been a little different. Most rumors featured Niall and Selena or Louis Tomlinson and Danielle Campbell. It was almost 2016 before the Styles and Kendall Jenner story broke.

Of course, the media would have us believe that dating Horan or one of his bandmates is a difficult task. One Direction romances are done and dusted before the daffodils begin to emerge. The sheer predictability of the romance/breakup cycle has many fans believing that the whole charade is nothing but a poorly conceived PR stunt designed to keep One Direction’s name in the papers while they are between tours.

It was even reported by the Inquisitr two weeks ago that Niall’s “winter girlfriend” was already over. Therefore, it is absolutely no surprise to see a raft of stories claiming that Selena has moved on from Niall and has a new man in her life.

The Goss claims that Selena has hooked up with male model Samuel Krost after the pair were spotted holding hands. It seems poor Niall has been left out in the cold. Bizarrely, Gomez and Krost were strongly linked back in November before Selena was linked with Niall.

Elle reports that in addition to rumors of a romance with Niall Horan, Gomez has also been linked with Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, and Orlando Bloom in recent weeks. It might seem a little obvious that Gomez can’t possibly be dating all of these guys at the same time.

Another intriguing aspect of Horan and the rest of One Direction’s dating habits is the fact that so many of the women the boys date are linked. Krost is friendly with Gigi Hadid, who is supposedly dating Horan’s former bandmate Zayn Malik. Hadid is friendly with Nadine Leopold and Georgia Fowler, who were both linked with Niall’s bandmate Harry Styles in the past.

Spending five minutes on Google reveals a host of links between the girls Niall and his mates are rumored to be dating. It sometimes seems that Niall and the boys are on one set of dice and a group of girls on another. A roll of the dice decides which pairing will be publicized as a new romance.

Perhaps the greatest irony of all is the fact that Horan and his bandmates never post any pictures of themselves with their latest rumored love interest. Horan certainly made absolutely no comment on stories linking him with Gomez. It certainly seems unlikely that Niall Horan will be feeling rejected by Gomez. If Niall and Selena never dated, there isn’t much to “move on” from.
