Amy Schumer Shuts Down Slut-Shaming Critic After Big Win At The Critics Choice Awards

Amy Schumer began her career making people laugh. She’s a comedian and does a fine job at the gig. The comedian also began starring in films, using her creative side to bring comedy from the stage to the screen. But the Trainwreck actress found herself at the end of someone else’s punchline and didn’t find it very funny.

While on the red carpet during the Critic’s Choice Awards, where Schumer was nominated, she stopped to take a picture with a film critic. It was a nice gesture that didn’t end so well. The critic, who goes by the name “LightsCameraJackson” on his Twitter Account, posted a rather rude and uncalled for jab at the comedian.

“Spent the night with @amyschumer,” he wrote via his Twitter.

He also added and implied that Schumer is a slut who sleeps around, saying, “Certainly not the last guy so say that,” in reference to spending the night with Schumer.

The tweet by “LightsCameraJackson” has since been taken down, but before that could happen, Amy Schumer took notice and shot back at the tweet.

“I get it. Cause I’m a whore? Glad I took a photo with you. Hi to your dad,” she wrote back on Twitter.

The critic who posted the ill-advised comment quickly responded with an apology.

“I truly apologize,” he posted to twitter. “Thought you’d like the joke. I should leave the comedy to you! Thanks for the photo. Glad you won last night!”

Amy Schumer wrote back to the critic in a very kind way.

“That’s really okay honey,” she later responded to the tweets. “I just remember thinking you and your dad were sweet and it was a bummer to read that.”

Well played, Schumer. Perhaps the young critic will take advantage of the situation and learn something for it.

As for Schumer, the comments on Twitter didn’t do anything to stop her from enjoying the evening while sitting next to her new boyfriend, Ben Hanisch. At the award’s show, Schumer won the award for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in Trainwreck and also took home the Critics’ Choice MVP Award.

While on stage for her acceptance speech, Schumer kept the evening light and funny while taking her own jab at Hollywood’s habit of poking fun at Schumer’s own body.

“If you’re an actress and you have this area right here, you have to write your own stuff if you want to get it made,” she joked while pointing to her midsection.

During her speech, she also had a long list of “thank yous” followed by cued music and a more serious topic that the award-winning actress wanted to address. Schumer came to the forefront of a gun control topic last week after an unhinged man went into a Louisiana showing of Trainwreck and killed two audience members.

The actress and comedian used her status to spotlight the problem, telling the audience at the Critics Choice Awards Show that the victims of the shooting died because a mentally handicapped man was able to get ahold of a firearm.

“They died because a mentally ill person got their hands on a gun,” she said to the audience. “We can end gun violence together.”

As for Schumer and her new beau, the pair seem to be hitting things off quite well. The couple was first announced a few weeks ago via an Instagram post, and the pair has been attached at the hip ever since. But Schumer recently began a tour that separated the couple for the first time.

Schumer expressed her feelings on an Instagram post of a group picture with Hanisch standing next to her and the caption, “Missing these people on the road.”

The couple continues to be open with their relationship and has shared multiple pictures of themselves, usually with Schumer elated over Hanisch.
