‘American Horror Story’ Season 6 Will Be Set In Two Time Periods, Who Will Be Returning To The Show?

American Horror Story: Hotel, the fifth season of Ryan Murphy’s widely-popular FX show, has just finished, and there are already details trickling about the sixth season.

In November 2015, American Horror Story was renewed for a sixth season, and many fans are already speculating about the setting of the next season. There is little information known about the series right now, but there some little details that FX CEO John Landgraf shared with the audience at the Television Critics Association press tour.

According to Movie Pilot, Landgraf shared that Season 6 of American Horror Story will be set in both the past and the present.

“[Season 6] is set in the present [with] echoes of the past… It’s set in two time periods, but principally in the present.

That’s a tiny clue of what’s to come in the next season, but Landgraf stopped himself from dishing out more information, saying, “Ryan Murphy will kill me if I tease anything.”

In November 2015, Ryan Murphy also dropped hints regarding American Horror Story, via Vanity Fair, when he said that the next season will be very different from Hotel.

“The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than this. Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark.”

Fans have seen American Horror Story actors play different roles since Season 1, but the cast for the upcoming season has not been fully announced. One actress who has been confirmed to return to AHS is Angela Bassett, and the news came from Ryan Murphy himself during a red carpet interview withE Online at the Golden Globes.

“Tonight I started to tell all the actors who they’re gonna play for next season ’cause I had too much to drink… so I told Angela Bassett and she was, like, ‘WHAT?!'”

Lady Gaga is another cast member who may be returning for American Horror Story Season 6, as Murphy already asked her to join as early as October last year.

Considering that Lady Gaga has just won a Golden Globe award for her acting gig in American Horror Story, the decision might not be too hard to make for the songstress.

Jessica Lange, who was in all American Horror Story seasons except for Hotel, might be making a comeback in Season 6. Last year, many were sad to hear that Lange won’t be making an appearance in Season 5, but she stated that there is a possibility of returning to the series if Murphy asked her.

“If Ryan came to me and said, ‘Would you want to do a small character for a couple episodes?’ I would absolutely say yes if I liked it. This was a great collaboration, so I would love to keep working with him.”

Emma Roberts, on the other hand, would love to come back to the series in order to work with Lady Gaga. Roberts has been in a few seasons of American Horror Story, but was not in Season 5. She is, however, the star of another Ryan Murphy show, Scream Queens. In an interview, Roberts stated her thoughts about the show and Lady Gaga.

“I watch most of it with my eyes closed, but I think I get the gist. I love Lady Gaga so much, so I was like, ‘Next season I want to work with Lady Gaga for sure.'”
