Bobbi Kristina Brown Update: Alleged Fake Nurse Jailed Again In Georgia

Taiwo Bolatito Sobamowo, the nurse who allegedly cared for Bobbi Kristina Brown last year while using a fake nurse’s license, was booked into jail on Sunday. She remains behind bars in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports that Sobamowo, 32, was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center this weekend, stemming from allegedly working as a nurse under a false name last year at the Peachtree Christian Hospice center in Duluth, Georgia. Peachtree Christian is where the late Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, spent her last days after failing to recover from a January 2015 incident that left her facedown and comatose in her own bathroom.

According to court documents, Sobamowo worked at the hospice center from September 2014 until August 2015. Reportedly posing as a registered nurse, Sobamowo was among the several caregivers who provided medical services to Bobbi Kristina. Some of the duties that contracted nurses perform include cleaning and bathing the patient, dispensing medication, and changing the patient’s clothing. A few of the nurses may be asked to provide grief services to the patient’s family.

Authorities revealed last year that Sobamowo’s services at Peachtree Christian Hospice center did not harm Bobbi Kristina. Regardless, Duluth Police Major Don Woodruff reiterated that despite if a patient was harmed or unharmed, Sobamowo should have never been allowed in the facility.

“The bottom line is she obtained, through fraudulent, means credentials on someone else and then used them herself. Our investigation showed no evidence she is a licensed nurse.”

Homestead Hospice of Roswell, Georgia, contracted Sobamowo to work at the Peachtree Christian Hospice center, but according to Homestead Hospice CEO Mallie Sharafat, a full background check is conducted on each nurse prior to employment.

“We had no reason to believe that she was anything other than a good nurse with proper credentials.”

Yet, in October 2013, prior to Homestead hiring Sobamowo, the District of Columbia Board of Nursing warned that she was using someone else’s name and fraudulently working as a nurse in the Washington, D.C., area. The information was sent out to the nursing community nationwide, and she was placed in the “Falsified Identity Tracking System,” an inside tool that allows board members to stay informed of happenings within the nursing profession.

In November 2015, North Carolina authorities arrested Sobamowo on warrants for fraudulently acting as a registered nurse in both Forsyth County, Georgia, and Duluth County, Georgia.

According to a statement released after her arrest, by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez, “Additional warrants were issued for Sobamowo which included felony Financial Identity Fraud and felony Forgery. The investigation identified that Sobamowo was working as a registered nurse with a Georgia healthcare facility. Sobamowo had provided fraudulent credentials under a different name to gain employment.”

The Gwinnett County Detention Center inmate records show that Sobamowo is charged with three counts of practicing registered nursing without a license, one count of false identification documents, and one count of financial identity fraud.

Taiwo Sobamowo is being held without bail at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. She also has a warrant hold on her stemming from financial identity charge in Roswell, Georgia.

Meanwhile, there’s been little said about the progress into the criminal investigation regarding Bobbi Kristina’s mysterious death. Although Nick Gordon, Bobbi Kristina’s former boyfriend, still faces an upcoming civil case in which he’s accused of theft and physically and mentally assaulting Bobbi Kristina Brown, there’s been no word from Fulton County authorities as to whether he’ll eventually face a criminal case as well.
