In just two weeks, two crooners have been arrested for domestic violence, and both are named Don. Donald Fagen was arrested this month for assaulting his wife, and now Don McLean has been arrested in Maine for assaulting his. The singer, best known for his song “American Pie,” is still singing the same song he was known for a generation ago.
According to the Inquisitr, Donald Fagen was arrested for assaulting his wife, Libby Titus, in New York. He is charged with throwing her around their apartment and into a marble window frame. But like many abused women, Libby Titus is refusing to press charges against the Steely Dan frontman. However, Titus is filing from divorce and wants nothing to do with Fagen.

Fox News is reporting that 70-year-old Don McLean was arrested in Camden, Maine, for assaulting his wife, Patrisha, according to police chief Randy Gagne.
“Police responded to a call at McLean’s Camden, Maine residence early Monday morning and arrested the singer without incident. He was transported to Knox County Jail in Rockland, Maine, and was later released after on bail. He has a court date set for February 22, 2016.”
McLean plays shows here and there, mostly around Maine, and plays his classic song. But McLean has had legal issues recently when he was fined for speeding through a school zone at an excessive speed, where the posted speed was 15 mph.

The Press Herald says that Don McLean has had some hostility for his wife and two children for some time and says that he now has to sell lyrics to support them because they don’t have a work ethic.
“They don’t have a mercantile instinct. I want to get the best deal I can for them. It’s time,” he told Rolling Stone.
McLean’s wife is a photographer who has published books and has worked steadily throughout their marriage.
Rolling Stone says that the police in Camden, Maine, got a call at 2 a.m. from the McLean residence about domestic violence, and McLean was taken into custody “without incident.” McLean put the lyrics to “American Pie” up for auction at Christie’s auction house.
“I’m going to be 70 this year,” McLean told Rolling Stone prior to the Christie’s auction. “I have two children and a wife, and none of them seem to have the mercantile instinct. I want to get the best deal that I can for them. It’s time.”
To make ends meet, McLean also auctioned off a few other items.
“I only have an attachment to my wife, children and my guitar,” he said. “In fact, I’m going to rid myself of a lot of stuff. In a year or two, I’m going to have a big Christie’s auction with guitars, clothes, boots, saddles, silver and watches. I collect a lot of stuff. It’s time to let other people have it.”
The handwritten lyrics fetched $1.2 million for McLean.
It is unclear what was behind the violence at the McLean home and if McLean’s wife was injured or required hospitalization.
