‘Scream Queens’ Is A Go For Season 2 And Here’s What We Know

Scream Queens just finished up its first season, and it must have been a successful run, because FOX has already greenlit the series for a second installment. The story of Wallace University and its Red Devil certainly made a killer impact on viewers worldwide.

Even more exciting is the news that the shows producers are already working on next year’s story and have some spoilers to keep fans interested through the hiatus. Will co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk tie the seasons together as promised, bringing last season’s survivors into the second season? It remains to be seen.

FOX Reveals Plans For Season 2 Of Scream Queens

Pasadena, California was host to this year’s Television Critics Association’s winter press tour and, like many other networks, FOX sent along their own representatives. Speaking at the event were top network executives Dana Walden and Gary Newman, who were only too happy to reveal what they know about season 2 of Scream Queens.

The next installment of Scream Queens will be set in a hospital, where some of the patients will exhibit bizarre cases. Along with co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, Ryan Murphy is hoping to bring back some of the same kinds of emotions stirred in the Nip/Tuck series, in which they had also been involved.

While Scream Queens performed somewhat lower than expected for live, first run episodes, DVR ratings were impressively higher. The FOX executives revealed that Scream Queens was renewed for an additional season based on a combination of these numbers.

It was also confirmed that Mr. Murphy will be bringing back some actors from the first season.

“Ryan intends to bring some of the actors from the first installment back — I believe they will be the same characters,” Ms. Walden said.

FOX Executives Reveal The Dirt On Who’s Coming Back To Scream Queens And More

While it does seem that certain people know more than they’re telling us, Scream Queens fans learned quite a bit from the TCA press conference. First of all, the widespread rumor that season 2 would be set at a summer camp has been completely dispelled. We now know that, similar to American Horror Story: Asylum, season 2 of Scream Queens will be set in a hospital. Unlike that AHS season, however, this second Scream Queens season will be set in a medical hospital, not a psychiatric institution.

“It really hasn’t been decided who’s coming back and how many of them who will be playing their old characters or not. Ryan, Brad, and Ian are actually working right now on that,” says Mr. Newman. “We’ll all be sitting together pretty soon and hearing their take on it. Our instinct is that at least a few of those characters will be back with the same actors playing the same roles, but it will be anthological in that there will be a time jump and it’ll be in a different setting.”

Rumors are that Jamie Lee Curtis and Lea Michele are on Ryan Murphy’s list of hopeful returns, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Also possible but unconfirmed is the likelihood that fans of American Horror Story may see family faces crossing over between shows. Previously, Lady Gaga revealed that she has already contacted Mr. Murphy with hopes that he would cast her in a Scream Queens role for season 2.

Beyond casting rumors, the spoilers that season 2 will take place in a hospital and that a time jump is involved opens up a number of possibilities. Could there be a murderous doctor roaming the halls? Or perhaps a necrophiliac that spends too much time in the morgue? It’s too soon to know for sure, but we can speculate. What do you think season 2 of Scream Queens will involve?
