Jessica Simpson is human, apparently.
Just two months after giving birth to daughter Maxwell Drew, she’s been struggling to take off the 70 pounds she put on during her pregnancy. But unfortunately for Simpson, she has to do it under the constant glare of media attention and public scrutiny.
Another celebrity mom has her back, though. Kendra Wilkinson, the Playmate-turned-reality star who welcomed her son in 2009, said “people need to mind their own business” and not focus on Simpson’s weight, omg! from Yahoo reported.
“That just breaks my heart,” the star of E!’s “The Girls Next Door” told Yahoo. She later added, “Her first priority right now is her child. Her first priority is not losing the weight. You should be proud of her for that. A lot of people just dump their kids off at nannies and lose the weight overnight. We should all be proud of her for being real and taking control and making priorities.”
Wilkinson makes a good point, and speaks from experience. She struggled with the 60 pounds she put on during her pregnancy and also suffered bouts of postpartum depression. Wilkinson even admitted that her weight and depression issues have made her question whether she wants another baby, even though husband Hank Baskett is pushing for another, Yahoo reported.
Adding to Simpson’s pressure is a $4 million contract she signed with Weight Watchers to reach her goal weight of 130 pounds. So while tabloids have been focusing on unflattering pictures of the new mom, Simpson took to Twitter to clear the air and say that she wasn’t under any pressure to lose the weight, gossip blog Hollywood Life reported.
Some people have criticized the media’s obsession with celebrity moms and how quickly they return to pre-pregnancy form, saying it creates utterly unrealistic expectations for the average mother. Simpson herself has been criticized for turning her weight-loss goals into an endorsement deal, though this is nothing new for celebrity moms. Both Mariah Carey and former Spice Girl Mel B signed deals with Jenny Craig following their pregnancies, International Business Times reported.
Do you think celebrities like Jessica Simpson are under too much pressure to lose weight after their pregnancies?

She had a daughter – not a son. Amazing that a journalist could get that wrong in this story.
What? Are u on drugs? Did u skip the first sentence in this article???
Really good struggle to get her to the world as she thought it to be manly.
To be robust in not something accepted, may be she is thinking, in the world.

I'm with Kendra….focus on the baby first then the weight. This celebrity watching sometimes is just ridiculous!
As dumb/silly as Kendra is she speaks the total truth….bravo!
Agreed, strokock. I had to go back and check b/c I knew I read DAUGHTER and not son!
WHO CARES HOW HEAVY SHE IS….SHE IS A NEW MOM LEAVE HER ALONE.
yes I couldn't stand it leave her alone.
If those critics were carrying that weight they might have a complaint but until then they need to keep their pie hole stuffed and quiet.
Of course they are! But it isn't just Celebrity Moms but everyday women are also under ridicules amounts of pressure to bounce back to the pre-baby body and be beautiful. The media has set up unrealistic expectations that no-one can live up to…just look at all the young people with eating disorders…they aren't doing it because they like how they feel…it's solely because of how they see themselves and how they perceive others see them. Leave people be!
,
Maggie, thank you for pointing that out to us. The article has now been corrected.
The underlying problem that should be the focus is that a pregnant woman should not be gaining 70 lbs during pregnancy.
Hey strokock and heather harris – are you going to apologize for telling me I was wrong? I'm not on drugs and i didn't read it incorrectly.
