Rihanna To Perform At The Super Bowl And The Grammys?

Rihanna hasn’t even released her highly-anticipated eighth studio album yet, but she already has been rumored to perform at both the Super Bowl and the Grammys this year. In addition, she is also kicking off her world tour in the next month.

Rihanna has been featured in the new promo for both the Super Bowl 50 and the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, which has fans wondering if the “BBHMM” singer will perform at both events. In the new CBS ad, Rihanna stars alongside late night talk show host Stephen Colbert to get the public ready for both events.

In the commercial, RiRi does her signature walk down the football field in a glittery gold dress and matching chandelier earrings just to meet Jim Nantz and the rest of CBS’s NFL commenters at the centerfield. Then Colbert shows up dressed as a referee, of course. He tosses a coin that features the Super Bowl on one side and the Grammys on the other side. The coin lands on the Super Bowl side, to which Rihanna responds with a smile: “I’m worth the wait.”

It looks like she may not be performing at the Super Bowl 50 alongside Coldplay and Beyonce, as previously rumored. The game will then be followed by a live taping of The Late Show. Fans will have to wait to see the singer perform at the Grammy Awards instead. Super Bowl 50 will premiere on Sunday, Feb. 7 while the Grammys will air live on Monday, Feb. 15.

Rihanna has yet to announce the release date for her upcoming album, ANTI. Fans have been going crazy wondering when it’s going to drop. Instead, Rih has been teasing the release of her new album through her interactive online AntiDiary campaign in partnership with Samsung.

The secret rooms labeled “R1” through “R8 Bedroom,” numbered after her eight albums, has revealed that there is just one room left. Fans have been thinking that once the R8 Bedroom is finally revealed, so will ANTI, finally. Some have been wondering if she’ll release it tonight or next Friday.

“FourFiveSeconds,” the lead single from her forthcoming album was release on Jan. 24, 2015. Next Friday’s date is Jan. 22, 2016, making fans wonder if her new album will finally be out by then. Two months after “FourFiveSeconds” with Paul McCartney and Kanye West was released, Rihanna then dropped “American Oxygen” and the controversial “B***h Better Have My Money.”

According to Michigan Daily Music Editor Christian Kennedy, it’s still far too soon for Rihanna to release her new album, even though it feels like her fans have been waiting forever for it.

“Rihanna won’t be releasing her album tonight for [its] surprise drop. The sun feels too close, ya know? Next week, Jan. 22 seems like the most viable option. Unreality UK added some backbone to the notion — however, it was also supposed to drop on Nov. 6, and then maybe again on Dec. 24.”

Late last year, Sia, the writer of Rihanna’s hit song “Diamonds,” revealed that the singer is still choosing which songs to complete her track list. But since she will be kicking off her 69-show Anti World Tour on Feb. 19, it’s a strong indication that her album is coming pretty soon. It’s also possible that she will drop her new album either on Colbert’s late-night show or at the end of the Grammy Awards, like Miley Cyrus dropped her Dead Petz album to the surprise to her fans after the 2015 VMAs.

It would be awkward for Rihanna to make these appearances and to do all of this promo without a new album to back it up. What are your thoughts? Do you think Rihanna will release her new album before or after the Grammys? Sound off below in the comments section.
