Adrian Peterson Arrested In Houston, Spends Night In Jail


Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson was arrested in Houston early Saturday morning.

Peterson was charged with resisting arrest and spent the remainder of Saturday night locked up at the Houston police Department Central Jail. It is unclear what led to Peterson’s arrest.

NFL.com reports that the running back was arrested at around 2:30 a.m. He was released on $1,000 bond at 10:41 a.m.

The Vikings released a statement saying:

“We are aware of the situation… We will withhold further comment until more information is known.”

The exact details of Peterson’s arrest but ProFootballTalk.com reports that the incident was all over a bottle of water.

Peterson was at a nightclub in Houston with his girlfriend when police entered near closing time. Peterson allegedly tried to order a water after closing time but was told to leave by a police officer. The two exchanged words and eventually Peterson was arrested.

According to a source, Peterson ran for the exit after the argument. But the police officer jumped on his back and tackled the running back. This information hasn’t been confirmed but the incident was reportedly caught on a surveillance camera.

Peterson suffered a torn ligament last December and is currently working his way through rehabilitation. The 27-year-old Running Back, who signed a $96 million 7 year deal in 2011, is hoping to be back during the first week of the 2012 NFL season.
