Ted Cruz Enrages An Entire City Over Offensive ‘New York Values’ Comment

Texas senator and 2016 presidential hopeful, Ted Cruz, is in the hot seat with the city of New York after a disparaging remark this week delivered to Donald Trump. What Ted Cruz meant as an insult to his opponent has backfired on him, as the whole city is up in arms about the negative connotation Ted Cruz has lent to the term “New York values.”

In the video below, taken from the Republican debate on January 14, Ted Cruz quite arrogantly explains that New Yorkers have different values than the rest of the country.

“Everyone understands that the values of New York City are socially liberal. They are pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, focused around money and the media.”

According to CNN, the New York Daily News emblazoned the issue on the front page of the publication today. It’s not difficult to tell that they have taken great offense at the defamatory remarks from Ted Cruz.

The headline on the paper reads, “Drop Dead, Ted. Hey, Cruz, you don’t like N.Y. values? Go back to Canada!”

This not only serves to defend the great city, but also brings up the hot question about whether or not Cruz is a natural born citizen, and therefore eligible to be president, as he was born in Canada to an American mother.

Trump defended the city against Ted Cruz quite nicely, however, citing that “New York values” are those that were shown the day the World Trade Center was destroyed.

“I saw something that no place on earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than New York. The people of New York fought and fought and fought. We saw more death and even the smell of death and it was with us for months.

“We rebuilt downtown Manhattan and everybody in the world watched and everybody in the world loved New York and loved New Yorkers.”

The Daily Beast reports that Jim Smith addressed the remark as well, even going so far as to issue an invitation to Ted Cruz to meet him at the National 9-11 Memorial and Museum so he can see the true values of the city.

Jim and his wife, Moira, served as NYPD officers. Moira lost her life the day the World Trade Center Towers were attacked, but she is remembered for bringing hundreds of people to safety that fateful day. The following is Smith’s letter to Ted Cruz.

“Senator Cruz, I was disappointed by your disparaging remarks about New York values somehow being different from Iowa and New Hampshire values. I invite you to come to the National 9-11 Memorial and Museum and see for yourself, and perhaps learn something about, the values of New Yorkers and the Heroes who defended American values on September 11th, 2001.”

Senator Ted Cruz has since apologized to the whole state of New York for his rude and offensive words. Watch the video below and judge for yourself if he is sincere, or if Ted Cruz is just playing the game and attempting to mollify New Yorkers.

Do you think Ted Cruz has any chance of beating out Donald Trump for the presidential nomination? How much do you think these latest comments have hurt Cruz?
