??John Krasinski?, ?Emily Blunt?? Shark Encounter On Honeymoon Had Them Spooked

Actors ??John Krasinski? and ?Emily Blunt?? went scuba diving during their honeymoon years ago in Italy in July, 2010 and while they were deep under water, they had a pretty scary encounter with a shark, reports Daily Mail.

“Emily never wanted to learn scuba diving and I was like ‘We’ll never get into trouble with sharks,'” ??John Krasinski said while on Friday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, while promoting 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. “All of a sudden one broke off from the circle and started swimming behind us. I saw it and Emily didn’t. He started to charge Emily, so my decision was ‘If I spook her and she moves a lot, he might bite her.'”

Krasinski apparently didn’t feel the need for a strong reaction and just “let it ride,” as the shark swam right by wife Emily Blunt. John says that once she realized she was so close to this shark, she “kind of passed out under water.”

“All of her air just went to the top,” Krasinski said. “It was pretty scary.” The actor was able to laugh about it and get the audience laughing as well, calling it a pretty amazing experience. He claims that their dive instructor got pretty competitive once he realized the couple had already snorkeled with sharks, so he decided to take them to the grey reef sharks. Emily was never interested in learning to scuba dive, but John insisted, suggesting that there was no way they would ever run into any trouble with sharks.

But a sweet encounter from a sea turtle seemed to set things right with Emily Blunt.

“A sea turtle that came up – I’m not kidding – put his arm around her and then started petting her head. He hugged her,” John Krasinski told Ellen and the audience, while footage from their honeymoon trip was displayed. “It was like he knew she had had a bad day and was like ‘sorry about my buddy Terry, he gets real close on the flybys.'”

It seems the ??John Krasinski?, ?Emily Blunt shark encounter was nothing to be overly alarmed about, especially considering the polite sea turtle who approached them afterwards. And more good times were to be had for John Krasinski years later, as he was afforded the opportunity to attend this year’s Golden Globes ceremony and join The Revenant actor Leonardo DiCaprio at his table.

Thirty-six-year-old Krasinski was seated at DiCaprio’s table but never actually got the chance to have a dialog with the Best Actor winner that night, describing the experience as “awkward.” He attended the ceremony alone, with wife Emily Blunt off shooting a movie on location. “I didn’t want to be like ‘Hey I’m the guy who doesn’t have anybody,'” John said.

The actor didn’t know anybody at the table, and once Leo and director Alejandro G. Inarritu accepted their awards and gave their speeches, Krasinski said he felt “pretty stupid.”

“There was a moment when Alejandro, when he won, where he said ‘hi’ to everyone and said ‘Thank you’ because they worked on the movie and then he turned to me and was like “Why are you here?'”

His film 13 Hours, directed by Michael Bay, opens today and is based on the book 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi. Taking a step away from the Transformers franchise, Bay was able to helm a project that has received mix reviews, but certainly more positive reviews than anything in the giant-robot series. The film stars John Krasinski, Pablo Schreiber, James Badge Dale, Max Martini, Toby Stephens, and David Costabile.
