‘Batman V. Superman’: Another DC Villain Revealed, Setting Up ‘Justice League’ — Zack Snyder Talks Doomsday

Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is coming soon, and his two-part Justice League movies are a good distance from release. Although the two current villains, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and Doomsday, have been presented in the Batman v. Superman movie trailer, there is yet another villain in store as teased by Snyder in the past, according to Entertainment Weekly. It’s a baddie that’s even “bigger” than those the DC Trinity would have to face.

Although Doomsday is just seen briefly in the movie trailer, Zack Snyder talks that there’s more to him than just his presence. In fact, the director cited that there is more to the beast that killed Superman in the comic books.

“He doesn’t just crawl out of the ground. He has his own mythology, right? So that has to be explored.”

Beyond that, the Batman v. Superman director couldn’t say much else, but he seemed to indicate some kind of set-up situation for future oppositions. It’s also explained by the director that there is a “bigger world to start thinking about.” With that said, this does make sense with the Justice League movie on the forefront and future challenges to start drumming up the creative minds behind the DC Cinematic Universe.

“To us, it really made sense to give [Doomsday] to the audience now. I really wanted to make the audience a promise that… though I’m super excited and happy and fulfilled by the conflict of Batman and Superman, there’s also a bigger world to start to think about.”

On top of Batman v. Superman, this year also has Suicide Squad and a solo Wonder Woman movie with Gal Gadot starring alongside Star Trek’s Chris Pine. So the gears of the DC machine are turning. With that comes, as Zack puts it, an “overarching story to these films.” This would result in a willful purpose in the planning of these movies.

It looks like the director is envisioning the process as it unfolds since Snyder has gained some footing in the process as it all evolves.

“It is constantly evolving, but we’re starting to get a handle on where we’re going with the world. That’s fun because it allows us now to be driving toward a goal that we don’t have to make up as much. The rules can be the rules, and the movie can exist in a closed universe… it allows us to tie things together.”

Now comes another Batman v. Superman development that’s spoiler-worthy, according to a report made by Latin -Review. Do not read on if you don’t want to find out.

In comic book lore, during the post-Crisis event or “Crisis on Infinite Earths” storyline, DC Comics has Lex Luthor and his team of scientists attempting to garner a facsimile of Superman, a clone with a resulting monstrosity in Luthor’s eyes. Most succinctly put, “this bizarre — oh forget it!” attempts to dispose of him, according to Wikipedia.

Well, Batman v. Superman is also adding Bizarro to the plate of villains that will lead up to the Justice League movie. The genetic creation is said to possibly run the same parallel as it did in the comics. After all, rumors have been running amok, especially ever since General Zod’s corpse was seen in a body bag and then a Lexcorp container with “Head” printed on one end of it being rolled down the hall.

Perhaps Lex has gotten close enough to Superman to get some blood or DNA? In the movie trailer, Batman asked if he bled. With that said, one could speculate that his blood question could mean Batman is attempting to acquire the blood of Superman, although one could only speculate.

Of course, that’s likely to be kept all a secret, but it leads to interesting questions about what’s to happen in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice come March 25.
