NiGHTS Into Dreams Getting A HD Re-Release This Fall

2012 is turning out to be a good year for Sega fans. First an HD re-release of Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio was announced, and now another cult hit is getting the re-release treatment.

Sega announced Thursday that a HD version of NiGHTS Into Dreams is in the works. The HD version is set to release on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC at some point this fall.

“The Sega Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams stands out as one of the most recognisable titles that found a home on the system,” said Chris Olson, Sega digital vice president.

“We’ve gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this autumn.”

Sega says that NiGHTS Into Dreams HD will sport a 16:9 aspect ratio, and will include leaderboards, achievement/trophy support, and a “Saturn” mode that turns off all the fancy new graphics, allowing you to play the original as it looked back in 1996.

Sega didn’t say just how much the NiGHTS Into Dreams HD re-release will cost you, but they did provide a trailer, which you can check out below.
