Adele, James Corden Have ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Fun Singing ‘Hello’

Adele, arguably the biggest name in music right now, and James Corden, host of The Late Late Show, are are going to be singing karaoke on Wednesday night’s edition of Carpool Karaoke, reports the Huffington Post.

James appears to be waiting in the car, outside Adele’s home. “Hello, it’s me,” Corden says into a phone, an obvious reference to Adele’s smash hit “Hello” while waiting to pick the singer up. “I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet.”

During their karaoke joyride, Adele and James sing “Hello,” “Rolling in the Deep,” and manage to have time to discuss how they take care of their hair as well as going to the gym. The “Rumor Has It” singer reveals that she has cut off her beautiful locks, and while Corden seems to really love it, Adele already misses her old style.

“What I like is that you’re coming to me for this advice,” he quips as Adele breaks out into laughter.

After doing a rendition of Adele’s “Hello,” they begin another duet, this time belting out “Rolling In The Deep.” Adele takes care of the verses while Corden impressively provides the backup vocals.

Carpool Karaoke with Adele offers a chance for her fans to see a bit more of her, given that the singer doesn’t often do interviews. Carpool Karaoke is a series that features James Corden driving around town with a big pop star. One requirement is that they both sing the star’s songs and and just goof around in general. Some pretty big names have appeared on the segment, including Justin Bieber being in the front seat twice, One Direction, Jason Derulo, and even Iggy Azalea.

Adele, from the looks of this short teaser, seems to have some pretty solid comedic timing. It’s safe to assume that Adele and Karaoke are going to be trending all over the internet and facebook come Wednesday when the full clip is released for everyone to enjoy.

“Who doesn’t want Adele on their show? There isn’t a show in the world that isn’t trying to book her,” James Corden says, after filming. The two have known each other for a while.

“I’ve known her a very long time,” he says. “We both did our first-ever TV show in the U.K. together. It was a talk show. It never worked … And I was a guest and she was singing. And neither of us had really gone on telly before.”

Adele is still breaking all kinds of records with the release of her latest album 25. It recently spent its seventh week being at the top of the Billboard 200. Adele’s 25 earned 194,000 equivalent album units last week, according to Nielsen Music. 164,000 of those units were in pure album sales.

After the release of her phenomenally successful album, 21, in 2011, Adele was thinking about the possibility of walking away from the music industry entirely. The idea at the time made sense, considering she would end her career on the highest of notes. But in 2012, she announced to her fans that she was only taking a hiatus from her music, taking some time to live a normal life. After she gave birth to her first child, Angelo, in October of 2012, Adele stated that her son was the inspiration to get her back into the recording studio and make more music. However, the singer was not going to attempt to recreate or try or outdo her previous effort, 21, feeling that she didn’t want make another “heartbreak record.”

Carpool Karaoke with Adele will premiere on The Late Late Show on Wednesday, January 13.
