‘Destiny’ Weekly Reset For Jan. 12: A Broken Nightfall [Update]

Destiny is off to a glitchy start for the Tuesday, January 12 weekly reset. PlayStation and Xbox players are reporting issues with the Nightfall that is preventing them from completing the Sunless Cell Strike. At least there is a third shot at the Warpriest challenge and other activities.

The Nightfall issue was pointed out by the DestinyReddit community not long after the weekly reset refreshed the game’s activities. Players report that enemies are not showing up in the first half of the Sunless Cell Strike followed by the door to the Ogre room not opening, thus preventing them from completing the Strike.

Bungie has acknowledged the issue via their Twitter help account. However, there’s been no word on a fix yet. It is best to avoid the Nightfall Strike for now until the developers can get it straightened out.

Update: Bungie announced that it has fixed the issue with the Nightfall Strike.

King’s Fall Raid Challenge Mode — Warpriest (Guide)

The first challenge for the King’s Fall Raid Challenge should be a snap for those experienced with the encounter already. The fireteam must ensure that no one player holds the aura during the damage phase more than once.

Since it typically takes three to five phases to take out the Warpriest, the fireteam just needs to have the players that last held the aura not step on a plate. Expert teams that can take the Destiny boss down in two phases shouldn’t have any trouble.

Possible rewards for the challenge on Normal include a 310 Light level Artifact and 310 Light level weapon and one of the missing Calcified Fragments along with the normal chance at an Exotic. The rewards on Hard mode are a 320 Light level Artifact and 320 Light level weapon plus the “Worm God’s Servant” emblem and the Calcified Fragment. You can get the Normal mode rewards in Hard mode in addition to the 320 level rewards.

Court of Oryx (Guide)

Tier 3: Balwur

Destiny Court of Oryx Balwur (PlayStation, Xbox)
The Wizard Balwur may be the easiest Tier 3 boss to appear in the Court of Oryx yet. The hook with her is that the floor of the court is covered in poison except for the area underneath the platform. Balwur spawns on top of the platform while Major Acolytes, Knights, and Thrall will spawn and move around the arena. The platform is poison-free but obviously dangerous because Balwur will shoot players and drop poison clouds.

Players will need to kill Major Acolytes to create poison-free spaces outside of the safe zone underneath the platform for a period of time. Players can then move out from underneath the platform, into the poison-free areas and shoot Balwur. Repeat as many times as necessary to bring her down.
