Jennifer Lawrence Scolds Journalist For Using Phone During Golden Globes Press Conference
Jennifer Lawrence has found herself in some hot water after her big win at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. The star took home the award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her recent movie, Joy, but it was her behavior after the award ceremony that’s been raising eyebrows.
Variety was the first media outlet to document her “rude” behavior and shared the video, which immediately went viral on social media. Fans have since been sharing their input about the blonde actress during her post-Golden Globes win.

Some think Jennifer Lawrence’s attitude towards a reporter during the Golden Globes press conference was inexcusable. The 25-year-old actress has been subject of criticism after she called out a reporter for looking at his phone.
Lawrence was there to collect her third Golden Globe in four years on Sunday night when she was named Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for her performance in the Miracle Mop film, Joy. When Lawrence answered a question from a foreign journalist during the press conference, she first scolded him for reading the question on his cell phone.“You can’t live your whole life behind your phone, bro. You just can’t do that. You gotta live in the now.”
She then rolled her eyes and pointed her finger at him. Everyone in the room erupted in laughter when J.Law heckled the reporter, but it didn’t seem like she was joking. Then when reporter asked how Jennifer foresees her Oscars win, she responded: “We’re at the Golden Globes. If you put your phone down, you’d know that.”

Lawrence’s comments have received plenty of backlash on social media. Some fans think that her remarks were insensitive and somewhat offensive, especially since the journalist’s first language probably isn’t English. Some even noted that he may have been using his phone as a linguistic aid. According to the Daily Mail, the reporter works for Latin America’s E! network, which airs in Argentina, Mexico, and Venezuela.
Others defended the journalist, saying that many reporters save questions on their cell phones, especially in this day and age. It sounds like Lawrence needs to keep up with the times – not the other way around.
Superhero Feed wrote: “Many reporters read questions off their phone. Especially reporters who’s first language wasn’t English. (sic)”
Another remarked: “Jennifer Lawrence snapping at a reporter isn’t ‘quirky’ or ‘cute’ idk why she feels entitled to be so rude.”
Even the reporter felt like he’s been scolded by Lawrence herself. He took to Instagram to share a selfie with the caption: “Después de haber sido regañado por #JenniferLawrence en los #GoldenGlobes,” which apparently translates to: “After being scolded by #JenniferLawrence in the #GoldenGlobes.” He has since been sharing photos of headlines slamming J.Law’s behavior at the Golden Globes.
But some are defending the actress, claiming that she was just joking and that the journalist should have been more prepared during his interview with the A-lister. Chris Tronsden, a host on Pacific Rim, tweeted about his experience. According to him, the reporter was trying to take photos of Lawrence during the conference.
I was in the press room w/ Jennifer Lawrence. She did NOT bully that reporter. He was not reading questions off of his phone. #GoldenGlobes

The reporter was asking a question but either filming or taking pictures off of his phone while talking to Jennifer Lawrence. #GoldenGlobes

Then he asked about the Oscars when we were at the Golden Globes. Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t rude at all. She just wanted him to be present.

Earlier that night, Jennifer presented an award with BFF Amy Schumer. As the two blonde actresses arrived on stage, they slammed someone in the front row for being on their phone.
“Can you please turn your phone off,” Schumer asked. Lawrence giggled and added: “Can you please stop taking pictures?”
It’s unclear whether or not Lawrence was just having a rough night, or just having too many drinks. Even some fans remarked that Lawrence’s attitude was harsher than usual. Hopefully the actress’ ego hasn’t gotten the best of her. Only time will tell if Lawrence will address this controversy or even apologize to the reporter. In her recent interview with Glamour Magazine, the actress revealed that she will never join social media because she believes that she’s more than just a GIFable actress or a 140-character tweet. Despite being known for her girl-next-door approachableness, quirkiness, and quick wit, Jennifer says she wants to be taken more seriously in Hollywood.
“I feel like I’m over-paid-attention-to. I’m not trying to be a GIF. I’m not trying to be a picked-up-on-Twitter quote. All I’m trying to do is act. And I have to promote these movies. And I am, at the end of the day, I guess, a f***ing lunatic. So if you record what I’m saying, it’s gonna be goofy. What do I do? What do I do? I’m just a girl, sitting in front the world and asking them to forgive her for speaking.”
