The Golden Globes red carpet traditionally showcases the highs and lows of the entertainment industry’s most fabulous fashion finds. But for Melissa McCarthy, the 2016 Golden Globes red carpet offered both the opportunity to showcase her own fabulous fashion line as well as her 50-pound weight loss, reported the Daily Mail.
Rocking the Golden Globe Awards red carpet, Melissa chose a dress that included a front leg slit to show off her weight loss success. McCarthy, 45, earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her role in Spy. The film, which Paul Feig directed and wrote, also received a nomination for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy.
Chatting on the red carpet, Melissa revealed why the Golden Globes counted as her favorite red carpet event amidst Hollywood’s many awards celebrations.
“It’s like a wedding where I get to see everyone,” pointed out McCarthy at the Beverly Hills, California, glamorous celebration of the entertainment industry’s best and brightest.
As to whether there’s another Spy movie in her future, Melissa also revealed that she’d consider it. McCarthy attended the event with Ben Falcone, her husband who also is an actor. Melissa previously earned the People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Comedic Movie Actress and Favorite Comedic TV Actress for Mike And Molly.
“It’s certainly a character I loved, I would go back to her in a minute, but we’ll see. I have no idea,” said McCarthy of the possibility of another Spy role.
Melissa isn’t the only comedian in the family. Ben, who has acted in various films starring McCarthy, including Spy and Bridesmaids, teased with a Twitter post prior to the Golden Globes red carpet event.
“Heading to the @goldenglobes with the lovely @melissamccarthy — we’re single and ready to mingle! Wait…,” tweeted Falcone.
McCarthy and Ben wed in 2005. The couple have two daughters.
As for what’s next for Melissa, she’s set to star in the Ghostbusters reboot that wafts into theaters this July. Directed by Feig, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones co-star.
But beyond film and TV, McCarthy has added fashion designer to her resume. As the Inquisitr reported, her new fashion line, called Melissa McCarthy Seven7, features styles ranging from glitter-infused to glam.
While some may look back at 2015 as a success if they accomplished their career or health goals, Melissa managed to do both. Plus, her goal of creating a new fashion line provides other plus-size gals with the chance to look and feel fabulous.
“I feel like there’s a big thing missing where you can’t dress to your mood above a certain number,” asserted the actress.
Melissa McCarthy Seven7 takes dressing to suit your mood to the next level by opening the door to women of all sizes and style preferences, from size 4 to 28. And for those seeking something ultra-glamorous for a special event, Melissa demonstrated that her fashions fit that niche by rocking the Golden Globes red carpet in her own style, reported Us Weekly.
McCarthy chose one of her designs that honored her hourglass physique. The metallic gown hugged her shapely curves, and Melissa completed the look with a chic clutch purse, pendant, and lace booties.
As for how McCarthy lost more than 50 pounds, the actress credits three factors for her weight loss triumph, as the Inquisitr revealed.
First, Melissa changed her attitude. Instead of stressing about her weight, McCarthy let go of her anxiety.
“I truly stopped worrying about it. I think there’s something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked,” explained Melissa.
Second, the actress took up martial arts. Initially a decision made for her Spy fight scenes, that fitness regime motivated her to move more, with the help of a martial arts teacher.
“The second I knew I was doing the movie, I started training with an amazing martial arts instructor,” revealed Melissa.
And last but not least, the actress is following a high-protein diet, which she feels just might qualify as her best decision.
“It may be the best thing I’ve ever done. I feel amazing!” shared McCarthy.
