Madonna Planning First Performance In Singapore As Custody Battle Rages

Madonna has never before performed in Singapore, despite her illustrious career. But Channel News Asia reports that the famous singer has now scheduled a performance at Singapore National Stadium for February 28, 2015. The concert is part of Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour, and is bound to thrill her Asian fans.

However, the task of setting tour dates and getting ready to carry on her tour come in the midst of Madonna’s custody battle for her son, Rocco. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that both Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie are getting ready for a huge custody battle. A source revealed to Page Six that Rocco wants more stability and he finds that in England.

“When he’s in England, [Rocco] gets to live a low-key life… He can go about his business and talk to girls without paparazzi stalking him, as Guy has carved out a pretty private existence for his family. He finds making friendships in New York much more difficult. Over here, everyone [is] trying to score an invitation over to Madonna’s house.”

People reports that Madonna is reminiscing about her children during the custody battle over Rocco. She recently posted an old photo on Instagram, showing her with three of her children, Lourdes (now 19), Rocco, and David (now 10).

A judge overseeing the custody case in the U.S. gave the order for Rocco to return home to his mother on December 23, but he didn’t comply, according to People. A source revealed that Rocco should already be home and that Madonna is a devoted mother.

“He should have been home already. Madonna is a devoted mother, and a big priority is her children’s education.”

No matter what is going on her personal life, Madonna has always been able to stay at the top of the charts and reinvent herself. Billboard points out that 25 years ago Madonna came out with “Justify My Love,” which made No. 1 on the charts. It was her ninth Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit.

Madonna certainly takes advantage of situations whenever she can, even if it means doing some photoshopping. Madonna posted a photo of her and her daughter, Lourdes, on Twitter. The caption told fans to watch out for double trouble.

However, fans were quick on the draw, realizing that the photo was originally of Lourdes with Lady Gaga, who was photoshopped out of the photo so that it shows Madonna posing with her daughter. One fan posted this on his Twitter feed. Awkward indeed!

There have certainly been moments between Madonna and Lady Gaga in the past. One example of tension between the two came in 2011, when Lady Gaga’s hit “Born This Way” came out. It sounded an awful lot like Madonna’s “Express Yourself.” Madonna acknowledged the similarities between the songs when speaking with ABC’s 20/20.

“There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it… because, obviously, I’ve influenced her. When I heard it on the radio … I said that sounds very familiar. It felt reductive.”

Check out the differences for yourself.

The two have since cleared up their differences. In an interview with Rolling Stone early in 2015, Madonna spoke about it.

“The only time I ever criticized Lady Gaga was when I felt like she blatantly ripped off one of my songs. It’s got nothing to do with ‘she’s taking my crown’ or ‘she’s in some space of mine.’ She has her thing. I do think she’s a very talented singer and songwriter. It was just that one issue.”

Too bad Madonna’s battle over custody of Rocco couldn’t be so easy.
